Eze Ramirez – Nekhael (3rd Avenue)

Sound Avenue’s progressive tinged 3rd Avenue imprint returns this week with their 12th overall release. It features the return of an Argentinean producer who is turning into a household name around the Sound Avenue label collective. Eze Ramirez first came to our attention with his ‘Glaslower EP’ which was released in April of this year on Crossfade Sounds. Eze has gone on to appear on 3rd Avenue, Balkan Connection and TRR and remains one of the brightest new talents that Argentina has to offer at the moment. Eze’s ‘Nekhael’ first appeared on 3rd Avenue’s We Are The Future’ Summer compilation and here it gets an His new single for 3rd Avenue is entitled ‘Nekhael’ and it comes with remixes from: Alex Villanueva & Andy Arias.

Eze’s sound has always been quite contemporary, it’s certainly not typical progressive house and seems to incorporate a wide range of styles. ‘Nekhael’ starts off sounding quite proggy but the relatively stripped groove keeps it more in techno territory. it’s the subtle atmospheric shifts that really stand out throughout the course of the tracks eight minute duration. The dark overtones and relatively spooky sounding electronics play off each other very well for some ideal mood setting material. The original version has already been featured by Hernan Cattaneo on his Resident Delta FM show as well so you know it’s one that belongs in your collection. The first remix comes from Alex Villanueva who is making his debut on 3rd Avenue. The Mexican producer has spent a good deal of time on Baroque’s various imprints and also Balkan Connection and Elliptical Sun. For his 6AM ‘Nekhael’ interpretation Alex has stayed true to the ominous theme from the original but beefed up the drums and added a cool vocal gate which ups the trippiness quite nicely. The final remix on the release is provided by Andy Arias who is returning to the Sound Avenue label collective for his fourth appearance. Andy has the distinction of appearing on Sound Avenue’s first ever release back in July of 2011 and his first remix for 3rd Avenue turns out to be our favourite on the package. The rawness of Andy’s ‘Analog’ interpretation is quite refreshing and the rather extreme modulation during the drop could be a real hit on the right dance floor. Top package from 3rd Avenue with radio play from Hernan Cattaneo. Highly Recommended.
