Ramon Tapia presents El Carlitto – Hysteria/Intricate (Bedrock)

Ramon Tapia returns to Bedrock with two stunning pieces of high-impact future techno/house.

‘Hysteria’ fizzes with energy from the off, with an intense buzzing bassline, subtle stabs, and lovely crisp percussion whipping up a fantastic, pulse-raising storm. But the real strength of the track lies in the way that it offsets its powerful techno elements with some fantastic melodic touches, first breathy pads and then dancing, abstract bleepy hooks that carry the track into the breakdown, before setting up a slamming drop. Wicked stuff from Ramon Tapia here, that should appeal to a wide range of DJs, and slay a wide range of dancefloors.

On the flip side, we get a taste of Ramon Tapia’s grunger, housier side on ‘Intricate’, with mechanical percussion and a low-slung, deeply sleazy bassline setting the mood immediately. Spooky, atmospheric effects provide the backdrop for a shimmering, cascading central melody, which is all but lost beneath some industrial-strength twisted synths during the breakdown, before returning for the track’s finale.

This is a really terrific offering from Bedrock and Ramon Tapia, which will no doubt earn him some new well-deserved admirers. Both tracks are strong, but it’s ‘Hysteria’ that’s really going to have you throwin’ shapes. Very highly recommended indeed.
