The latest release on Clinique Recordings finds the label revisiting Robert R. Hardy’s ‘Joys Of Souls’.
Originally released as part of the ‘Casa Picante’ EP in February of 2014 it was also Robert’s first release for the Russian imprint. Now for the labels 120th release we see two brand new remixes from Diyo and Matter.
The first interpretation of ‘Joys Of Souls’ is provided by Diyo who is making his first appearance on the Clinique Recordings. We last heard from the Argentinean producer with his remix of East Cafe on Golden Wings Music which was released in January of this year. It was another standout release for Diyo which continued a long running streak of memorable productions dating back to his early work on Stripped Recordings. It’s what makes each of his tracks met with great anticipation and he’s delivered again on his ‘Joys Of Soul’ remix. With a more energetic approach Diyo has provided a nice alternative to Robert’s deep and glacial original. Led by big bass stabs and a wonderful selection of hypnotic tones it’s one of those productions which seems to endlessly build. The main break may be the highlight with its slow rolling melodic narrative. It provides a wonderful climax and the soft re-entry is very tastefully done. Excellent remix from Diyo.
The second and final interpretation of ‘Joys Of Souls’ is provided by Matter who is making his third appearance on Clinique Recordings. The Australian producer continued his stellar productions to begin 2015 with remixes for Balkan Connection and Suffused Music. His deep, driving and hypnotic sound has been a favourite in the underground over the last two years and he’s delivered a strong remix of ‘Joys of Souls’ here. Following a DJ friendly intro the groove begins to pick up stream with rugged synths, wispy vocal loops and a rolling low end all working in unison for a huge vortex of energy. The middle portion or second act of the record offers a nice release in the driving tension with the gaseous atmosphere and beats conjuring up a lovely vibe. It’s not long before the modulation slowly gets cranked and a huge rush of energy ensues as the drums and groove come back in full effect. A monster remix from Matter and I’d say one of his all time best. Great remix package from Clinique with both Diyo and Matter delivering top notch work. Don’t miss it.
