Weepee – Shadows / Operation X (Movement Recordings)

Movement Recordings closed out 2013 with an impressive string of releases from Marcelo Vasami, Luis Bondio, Mariano Favre and Stergios. As 2014 begins Tash’s imprint continues that great momentum with a brand new EP from Weepee. The Lithuanian producer had a great 2013 with releases on Luis Junior’s Mooseekaa and Mirabilis Records. Weepee’s new EP for Movement is entitled ‘Shadows/Operation X‘ and it comes with remixes from Luis Bondio and Stas Drive.

This marks Weepee’s fourth appearance on Movement and he’s crafted two exceptionally cool productions for it. The first entitled ‘Shadows’ is a dark and delightfully groovy composition. Well shaped bass stabs lay down a monstrous foundation as the trippy hypnotic theme begins to take shape. The dark undertones which root the piece develop dramatically into something much more emotional as the rhythms go through a smooth set of chords changes. The smooth climax comes when the rolling harmonics and dulcet shifts collide for a great emotional moment. The companion piece ‘Operation X’ offers a hypnotic techno vibe which complements the more progressive ‘Shadows’ very well. Rooted with a tough, deliberate groove the framework builds huge momentum as the buzzing rhythms push forward. The stomping groove reaches a peak time worthy climax as a serious of tasteful builds drive the rhythms even higher and will leave your dance floor wanting more.

The first remix of ‘Shadows’ is provided by Luis Bondio who is making his sixth appearance on Movement. The Argentinean producer closed the year out with two hugely impressive remixes on Hope Recordings and microCastle. Luis has continued his great momentum with an amazing interpretation of ‘Shadows’ which features a deep and more heartfelt vibe. A warm foundation of harmonies is layered with an enchanting melodic theme which is constantly evolving. As the production peaks the striking melodic tones work in perfect unison with the flowing harmonies to create one of Luis’ most impressive musical creations to date.

The second and final remix of ‘Shadows’ is provided by Stas Drive who is making his first appearance on Movement. The Ukrainian producer has been much hyped of late with many of his productions being favourites of both Hernan Cattaneo and Guy J. Add to that a forthcoming release on Guy J’s Lost & Found and Stas Drive looks to be one of the most talked about producers in 2014. For his ‘Shadows’ interpretation Stas Drive has delivered another one of his sultry hypnotic grooves. The mesmerizing foundation, hazy rhythms and enchanting atmospheres all work together marvellously well and should be a massive dance floor favourite over the coming months.
