His latest track, ‘Infinity’, came as no exception; a soundscape layered with hypnotic synths, driving bass, and dynamic vocal touches, the track delivers a raw and immersive experience, encompassing LUCRE’s signature style whilst bringing in energy that feels fresh and innovative. As he sets his sights on exploring new directions of his sound, ‘Infinity’ serves as a bold statement of LUCRE’s artistic versatility, highlighting the unique sonic identity he continues to carve out.

In this exclusive interview, we caught up with LUCRE to go behind the scenes of his production process, creative inspirations, and what he hopes for next in his musical journey.

Hi LUCRE, congrats on your recent release! How does it feel to have ‘Infinity’ out?

Hi! Thanks! I’m thrilled and eager to explore new territories with my sound. Looking forward to the journey ahead and ‘Infinity’ is just the start.

What was the inspiration behind ‘Infinity’?

My inspiration stems from delving deeper into the darker, more experimental side of Techno. I’m aiming to demonstrate my versatility as an artist by exploring and creating a diverse range of musical styles.

How did the concept for this track come together—did you have a clear vision from the start, or did it evolve during production?

Yes, my vision was clear: to create something powerful, unique, and driven by a truly impactful Techno experimental sound.

The track is built around hypnotic synth textures and a pounding beat. Which element came first, and how did you build the arrangement from there?

I typically begin all my tracks with the foundational elements, kick and bass, and then build from there. In this case, I had some cool, unique sounds ready to go once the foundation was ready.

Can you walk us through your production process for ‘Infinity’?

I start by immersing myself in my dark, atmospheric studio, experimenting with different sounds. Once inspiration hits, I focus on crafting a solid kick and bass. I remain fully dedicated to the process until the track is complete, and ‘Infinity’ was no exception. I always allow the project to “marinate” for 24 hours, revisiting it the next day to make sure we have something special.

The track features dark-sounding hooks and pulsating motifs—how did you design these sounds, and what tools or plugins were essential?

I can’t give away all my secrets, but I will say Ableton has a lot of tools to help you craft a unique sound!

What role do you feel the filtered vocal lines play in the overall vibe of the track?

That’s actually funny, I’ve received a great deal of positive feedback on the vocals, which is interesting considering they make up a relatively small portion of the track. However, the filtered, almost eerie vibe they create truly takes the track in a unique direction.

Structurally, how did you decide on the track’s progression to keep it engaging from start to finish?

I always have my wife listen to the track once it’s completed. If I catch her humming it later, I know we’ve got something special, LOL! But in all seriousness, it’s about crafting the right vibe. When I finish a track, we both listen to it as any listener would, evaluating whether the groove and patterns are on point.

Was there a particular moment during production where the track really came together for you? How do you know when a track is finished and ready for release?

Yes, the first time I heard it complete. When I first completed the track, I knew it wouldn’t be for everyone and that was exactly what I wanted!

Finally, how would you say ‘Infinity’ represents your growth as an artist, and what do you hope to bring listeners next?

I don’t want to be confined to a single style. Whether I choose to create vocal-driven Dance music or dark, heavy Techno, I have the freedom to explore both. This track is part of that vision, demonstrating to the world that I can tackle a wide range of styles. There is a diverse range of music I’m working on still to come!

As our conversation comes to a close, it is clear that LUCRE’s passion for his craft and desire to explore new sounds remains at the core of his artistry. With ‘Infinity’, he continued his evolution, staying true to his creative vision whilst adding a powerful production to his discography to prove that his music is as distinct as his approach. So, as we wrap up our interview, we thank LUCRE for taking the time to share his process with us and encourage you to keep up with his journey via social media.
