AIIME C Defines Her Transition with ‘Head in the Clouds’

Blending high-energy club detail with intimate vocals, AIIME C signals her arrival ahead of debut EP ‘Up in the Air’.

AIIME C

Cardiff songwriter AIIME C releases her debut single “Head in the Clouds” on 1 April 2026, marking the first move in a calculated rollout toward her debut EP, Up in the Air, arriving 27 May.

Blending the propulsive momentum of liquid drum & bass with the sharp focus of electronic pop, the track establishes AIIME C as a vital new rising voice in the UK underground. Built in a self-managed studio while the artist maintains a full-time career as a scenic artist, the project represents a rare bridge between the physical labour of construction and the weightless geometry of synthesis.

There is a specific tension in the work of AIIME C. While “Head in the Clouds” is driven by a 170 BPM liquid pulse, the sensation isn’t one of frantic movement, but of suspension. It is a track about the “between places” – the altitude of travel where the ground is a memory and the destination is not yet a reality. The production relies on undulating percussion that feels more like a heartbeat than a drum machine, layered beneath synth lines that possess a fluid, almost translucent clarity.

Early comparisons to the sharp, observational songwriting of Lily Allen are inevitable, yet AIIME C occupies a more atmospheric territory. Where Allen dissected the street level, AIIME C looks at the horizon. Her “silky” vocal delivery provides an intimate counterpoint to the high-energy club detail of the production, ensuring the “emotionally direct” songwriting isn’t lost in the technical precision of the mix.

“It’s high-energy but airy, balancing club-driven detail with an intimate vocal and hook-led structure.”

The track serves as a manifesto for the forthcoming EP, Up in the Air. Conceptually, it explores the anxiety and wonder inherent in transition – the vulnerability of standing on the edge of a major life shift. For an artist developing her first professional campaign from a self-built setup, that uncertainty is literal. Yet, in “Head in the Clouds,” that uncertainty sounds like euphoria.

As a first outing, the single is nothing short of sensational. It captures the physical sensation of forward motion while remaining grounded in the nostalgia of what is being left behind. If this is the foundation, AIIME C has the potential to dictate exactly where the Welsh electronic scene moves next.

Up in the Air arrives 27 May 2026. “Head in the Clouds” is available across all platforms 1 April.
