Alice Rose – Into My Heart (Manual Music)

The 133rd release on Paul Hazendonk’s Manual Music imprint features a third single being showcased from Alice Rose’s ‘each is a DREAM’ LP. The album was released in November of 2013 and showcased the multi-talented German producer’s vocal / song writing skills perfectly. ‘Into My Heart’ was the LP’s second selection and it’s unabashedly catchy elements set the stage quite nicely for the blissful dream pop which was to follow. Also included on this release are two brand new original productions entitled ‘For Love’ and Poetic Eyes’ with the former being a brilliant slice of techno infused pop while the latter is an enchanting down tempo piece with Alice’s heartfelt vocals really hitting some profound emotional depths. Manual Music has also selected two additional tracks from Alice’s LP which have been remixed by Gabriel Ananda & Tiger Rose and Jaap Ligthart.

First up is ‘Butterflies’ which has brought closer to the dance floor by Gabriel Ananda and Tiger Rose. German producer Gabriel Ananda has been one of the most respected artists in electronic music for over 15 years. His soulful and seemingly timeless techno productions have found their way on to Truam, Suara and his own Basmati imprint which continues to deliver the finest in contemporary club music. For his Butterflies’ interpretation Gabriel has teamed up with Tiger Rose which as many of you may know is an more dance floor oriented alias for Alice Rose. Together Gabriel and Alice have provided a very inspiring remix of ‘Butterflies’. The rich musicality is well conveyed throughout the remix and the tribal elements are a very fresh sounding twist which should prove very effective on many dance floors. One of the records magic moments comes when Alice’s vocal first drops in, the accompanying claps here sound absolutely fabulous and the soft atmospheric textures seem to add even more elegance to the timeless framework. I must say I had this one repeat for a while when the promo came though and it still sounds fresh after countless listens. One of favourite tracks of the month for sure and there’s also a dub included for the less vocally inclined.

The final remix on the release comes courtesy of Jaap Ligthart who is returning to Manual Music for his second appearance. The Dutch producer has had a busy 2014 and I have to say his recent remixes for Agara Music and Balkan Connection’s new BC2 imprint were outstanding. Jaap’s interpretation of ‘I’m Gone’ has actually performed the best in our overall Hype Charts which is saying something considering how incredible the Gabriel Ananda & Tiger Rose remixes are. There’s always something quite cool about Jaap’s productions and his deep, musical yet still club friendly take on ‘I’m Gone’ is most likely the crowning remix achievement of his career. After a relatively unassuming beginning that’s filled with lovely vocal gates and enchanting harmonic themes the track reaches the main breakdown which is absolutely sensational. Alice’s wailing vocals are about as bold and theatrical as you could possibly imagine and the surrounding textural bliss is some of the finest emotional content you’ll hear all year. Easily one of Jaap’s best if not the best remix of his career and there is also a dub version included as well. Outstanding release from Manual Music on many levels. Highly Recommended.
