Andy Weed – Parallel Curves (Stellar Fountain)

The latest release on Stellar Fountain welcomes Andy Weed back to the label for a brand new single.

Andy Weed

The Scotland based producer last appeared on the Hungarian imprint with a remix of Yarranton & Young’s ‘Clear and True’ which was released in December of 2013. Andy’s latest studio creation and new single for Stellar Fountain is entitled ‘Parallel Curves’ which includes remixes from Vlada D’Shake and Loquai.

Andy’s original mix leads the release off and for all those that have been following his recent work on Reelaux Digital you’re sure to love this one as well. The atmospheric tinged deep-prog crossover style is quite appealing and Andy’s subtle melodic work shines once again. It’s ten minute plus running time may seem a little daunting but there’s a nice journey to get locked into here. Wonderful work from Andy.

The first interpretation of ‘Parallel Curves’ is provided by Loquai who is making his ninth appearance on Stellar Fountain. The Germany based producer has gotten deeper and groovier over the course of the last few years and is fresh off an amazing remix of Platunoff’s ‘This Will No Longer Be’ released courtesy of Sunstate Records. For his ‘Parallel Curves’ interpretation Loquai has added some nice funk to the groove with a wonderful reshape of the bass line. The main rhythmic elements are well conveyed and carry the track but it’s Loquai’s tasteful third act, complete with emo chord changes that pushes it over the edge. Beautiful remix from Loquai.

The second and final interpretation of ‘Parallel Curves’ is supplied by Vlada D’Shake who is making his seventh appearance on Stellar Fountain. The Serbian producer just released great remix productions for Balkan Connection South America and Welcome Music along with a killer single on Music To Please Friends. For his ‘Parallel Curves’ interpretation Vlada has aptly coined it ‘Old School’ and given it’s timeless progressive appeal it’s certainly an adequate moniker. Aside from a deep and funky groove which is quite strong what really stands out are the uniquely processed vocal elements and a bevy of shifty electronics, both of which are an absolute sonic delight. Definitely one of Vlada’s best works this year and my favourite version on the release as well. Solid release on Stellar Fountain and a great return to the label from Andy Weed.
