The latest release on System Recordings welcomes Arthur Minnahmetov back to the label for a brand new EP.
The Russian producer first appeared on the US imprint in December of 2014 with the ‘Sensitivity / Closer’ EP. The first half of 2015 has seen Arthur broaden his sound with releases on BC2 and Soundteller Records. His latest EP entitled ‘Blue Smoke’ finds him reaching further into his studio repertoire with two of the best tracks of his career.
The lead track ‘Blue Smoke’ kicks the release off with a deep and sultry progressive vibe. The unique beat patterns and spacious bass stabs make for a very danceable groove, before some nice vocal elements get worked into the mix. It’s a much funkier, laid back sound than what we’ve heard from Arthur in the past and it’s rolling cadence is incredibly appealing. The short break keeps the groove flowing for most of the tracks 8 minute duration and the second half conclusion is quite heavenly.
The companion piece ‘Sofaroom’ comes with a similar vibe but it’s backed by an even funkier groove. The vocal elements are again super fresh sounding and the old school gates really work here. There’s a bit more of a distinct theme as well with a playful, rainy day melody which develops over the first act and on through the main break. Both cuts are excellent and definitely show a new side of Arthur’s sonic palette. A great signing from System Recordings, don’t miss it!
