Audiotox & Overtone Watson – Walking On (Mistique Music)

Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic’s Mistique Music returns this week for what looks to be one of the labels most promising releases this year. It features the return of Audiotox & Overtone Watson to the label for their second appearance. The much hyped production duo first appeared on Mistique back in July of 2012 when they remixed Mitrinique’s ‘Mind Crossing’. Audiotox & Overtone Watson’s first single for Mistique Music is entitled ‘Walking On’ and it comes with remixes from: Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic and Loquai.

Audiotox & Overtone Watson have a very impressive discography. In addition to appearing on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music imprint the duo have also delivered fine productions for Sound Avenue, Crossfade Sounds and Baires Records. They’ve been a bit quiet of late so it’s great to see them with a new single here on Mistique. ‘Walking On’ comes with much of the same buzzing hypnotic energy that many of their previous productions were so loved for. The tightly constructed groove is deep but carries a wonderful energy about it. The production flows amazingly well and there is also a great sense of anticipation as the energy of the piece seems to grow mightily. Following the compositions middle section lovely melodic themes and a blissful atmospheric sheen descend over the piece which provides quite a heavenly climax. It’s been a long time waiting for new material from this great duo but it’s been well worth the wait. Great stuff from Audiotox & Overtone Watson.

The first remix is supplied by the Mistique Music label bosses Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic. The much loved producer trio have been delivering outstanding productions on their Kunai imprint of late and they’ve grown immensely as a result. In addition to that recent appearances on Perspectives Digital, 3rd Avenue and Movement Recordings have been a huge help in getting their broad sound out to the masses. For their ‘Walking On’ interpretation Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic have provided a deeper, more hypnotic take on the track that really delivers. The bubbly melodic textures and gaseous soundscapes sound perfect together and the trios serene sounding breakdown reintroduces the beats in an exhilarating fashion. It’s sounds like they’ve gone back to their roots a bit for this production and it’s really paid off. Superb stuff from Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic and it’s great to see them back on their own Mistique imprint here.

The second and final remix is provided Loquai who is making his 82nd appearance on Mistique Music. The Russian born Germany based producer has been there since the labels inception and he’s grown immensely as a producer over that time. He continues to be one of the genres most prolific artists and also a true craftsman when it comes to incredibly groovy bass lines. For his ‘Walking On’ interpretation Loquai has crafted a spacey progressive cut that’s loaded with great atmosphere and sounds. The haunting melodic elements have been reinvented wonderfully and make the second half of the track heavenly to say the least. Great stuff from Loquai and an all round great release from Mistique Music.
