The 42nd release on Sound Avenue presents Beat Syndrome and Estroe with their first ever studio collaboration together entitled ‘Toro’.
Hamed Safi aka Beat Syndrome has been one of Sound Avenue’s integral artists since the labels inception. The Canadian producer has delivered two singles and three remixes in that time and has also appeared on label offshoot’s Crossfade Sounds and 3rd Avenue. Dutch producer Estroe is also a part of the Sound Avenue family having remixed Beat Syndrome’s ‘Symmetry’ for Crossfade Sounds in September of 2013. The long time purveyor of intelligent techno not only owns and operates the Rosedale Records imprint but has also had her own productions featured on Bedrock, Connaisseur and Proton Music. Now for Sound Avenue’s 42nd overall release we see both Beat Syndrome and Estroe returning with their first ever studio collaboration. The piece entitled ‘Toro’ was conceptualized in Hamed’s studio during Estroe’s trip to Toronto last year.
Hamed’s continually evolving creative output has melded well with Estroe’s intelligent take on electronica. ‘Toro’ is a uniquely groovy construction with well carved bass stabs and a nice complement of shuffling drums and colourful electronics. A backdrop of delicate texture only adds to the timeless vibes and the soothing hypnotic waves which dominate the middle section are the icing on the cake.
Also included on the release are two additional interpretations by Estroe and Beat Syndrome. Estroe’s ‘Introvert’ interpretation strips the groove down a touch with a complement of muted beats, meandering musical themes and quirky electronics. As the piece develops tonal shifts and radiant textures add further depth to the production which already sits as a highly stylized piece of modern day electronica.
Closing the release out is Beat Syndrome’s version which brings things a touch closer to the bigger dance floors. Hamed’s well sculpted beats, rising tensions and distinctive take on the hypnotic theme has given ‘Toro’ new found emotional life. While still retaining the class and elegance which was so strongly conveyed in the original it closes out another defining release for Sound Avenue who continue to stretch the boundaries of their sonic canvas.
