Beatport has officially entered the live ticketing market with Beatport Tickets, positioning itself as a direct competitor to Resident Advisor.
Announced on October 16, Beatport Tickets allows promoters, labels, and venues across the UK and EU to sell tickets for electronic music events directly within Beatport’s ecosystem. By integrating ticketing with its existing music platform, the company aims to offer a more seamless experience for fans, connecting digital music discovery with access to live performances. Event pages can feature embedded playlists, track links, and integrated sales tools, keeping users engaged without needing to leave the Beatport environment.
Beatport Tickets also positions itself as a comprehensive destination for discovering dance music events. Users can explore upcoming shows while interacting with curated content, including artist and label pages. Future updates are expected to add accommodation options, merchandise, and token-based features for ticket holders, further enhancing the overall live experience. Expansion into the US is already planned, alongside deeper integration into Beatport’s main store and mobile app, increasing the platform’s reach and convenience for fans worldwide.
For Resident Advisor, this development introduces a serious challenge. RA’s reputation has been built on carefully curated events, trust among promoters, and grassroots credibility. Beatport, however, brings the advantage of scale, a massive global audience, and extensive data-driven insights, allowing promoters to market events more effectively. The combination of music discovery, artist promotion, and ticketing under one roof creates a strong value proposition that could erode RA’s dominance.
Helen Sartory, Beatport’s Chief Revenue Officer, described the move as an evolution of the company’s mission:
“Beatport has always been the home for DJs and fans to connect with the music that drives dance culture. With Beatport Tickets, we’re taking the next big step – bridging digital and live, supporting promoters, and giving fans a richer way to experience dance music.”
By integrating live ticketing with its existing digital infrastructure, Beatport is not only selling tickets but also reshaping how fans discover and engage with dance music events. The platform threatens to redefine the hierarchy of live electronic music culture, positioning Beatport as a dominant force capable of challenging Resident Advisor’s long-standing control of the market.
