Sleepless Nights Recordings returns this week for their 15th overall release. It’s sees the label with the 3rd installment of their SNR Showcase series. The first two offerings were from Juan Deminicis and Stanisha. Both proved to be great artist showcases and the third one comes from one of the hottest producers of the moment.
Toronto, Canada’s Biologik has purposefully built up and impressive collection of music over the course of his now almost 8 year career. Electronic music fans really started to take notice once the relationship with Proton Music was formed. Biologik first appeared on Proton Limited in October of 2008. The Canadian producer then went on to appear on Proton’s various division’s eleven times just as 2012 drew to a close. A huge moment came when ‘Sleepless’ was signed by Mesmeric Records and none other than Luke Chable had the remix honours. The package proved to be one Mesmeric’s strongest releases of the year and saw Biologik with a certifiable hit on his hands. As 2013 progressed Biologik returned to Proton and also made debut appearances on Change Audio and Steller Fountain; the latter of which just recently released his excellent ‘Two’ LP which is still performing quite well in the Beatport Progressive House chart.
Biologik’s SNR Showcase EP looks set for a similar fate as at the time of this writing and just a mere two days after the release it’s already at #66 in the Beatport Progressive House chart. The four cuts included here all have something special to offer but it’s the EPs third selection that really stands out for us. ‘Clocktowers’ might be one of Biologik’s most gorgeous and emotionally stimulating creations to date. There’s always a timeless essence about the Canadian producers productions and this really has that feeling as well. Based around a delicate melodic theme the warm and shimmering beauty is undeniably here. The well textured beats seem to have just the right amount of punch and effortless shuffle as to not take away from the celestial top end brilliance. If there ever was a tastefully restrained sunrise epic then this is it. It’s an all round fabulous EP from Biologik; the other three cuts are certainly more club worthy and are just as excellent but the discerning beauty of ‘Clocktowers’really gets us. Another top notch release from our friends at Sleepless Nights.
