Blusoul – Falling (3rd Avenue)

Sound Avenue’s progressive offshoot 3rd Avenue reaches its 30th release this week and with that they welcome Blusoul back to the label. The Greek producer was an integral part of 3rd Avenue’s beginnings as his ‘Omega’ production was the labels first ever release back in April of 2013. It’s roughly a year later and Blusoul is back with a second single for the label entitled ‘Falling’ which comes with remixes from Praveen Achary and Diego Poblets.

Blusoul is a very underrated producer; one of the most in all of the progressive house underground. His meaty productions are always full of unique electronics, pulsating rhythms and wonderful texture and character. It’s a very pure progressive house sound that’s coming out of Blusoul’s studio but in the best way imaginable. It’s the strength of his production that really pushes his stuff over the top as well; it’s so well crafted that you can’t help but want to listen to it loud. His latest single for 3rd Avenue ‘Falling’ is well in line with his best work and it comes with one of his unmistakable meaty bass lines. The pulsating foundation along with the spacey electronics are what really standout here and the gently drifting breakdown with it’s wispy vocal pads is the perfect centrepiece. Outstanding stuff from Blusoul and Armin Van Buuren and Paul Oakenfold think so to as they’ve both offered support on the track.

The first remix is provided by Praveen Achary who is making his first appearance on 3rd Avenue. The Indian producer and Juicebox Music mastermind has been quiet on the production front to start the year but he kicks it off in style here with a great interpretation of ‘Falling’. Praveen has reworked the elements from the original wonderfully into a smoother more streamlined beast which is just as powerful as the original. The undulating foundation from the original has been toned down a touch in favour of a momentous hypno groove which sounds perfect for the progressive house contemporaries out there. Add to that a dazzling top end of memorizing key clusters and you’ve got a great complement to Blusoul’s massive original.

The second and final remix comes from Diego Poblets who is returning to 3rd Avenue for his third appearance. The Argentinean producer has been a huge contributor to the Sound Avenue family over the last two years as he’s also appeared on the collective’s primary imprint four times. Diego’s interpretation of ‘Falling’ is also a much more streamlined version compared to Blusoul’s original but there’s some interesting musical twists along the way. As the rhythms build and hypnotic lines swell a sombre mood descends over the piece along with some acidic warbles which lead the track into the main break. The interlude slowly builds with a cool section of broken beats providing a nice transition back to the laser like focus of the second half and ultimate conclusion. Great stuff from Diego and a top notch release from 3rd Avenue who are really rolling at the moment.
