Our friends at Sound Avenue are slowly building an electronic music empire. They established Sound Avenue over the second half of 2011 and within a year the imprint was considered one of the best and most consistent in its genre. Then the second half of 2012 saw the creation of Crossfade Sounds which now less than a year later is well recognized for releasing some of the most interesting electronic music around regardless of the genre. Now as the second quarter of 2013 begins we see another new imprint from Sound Avenue which they’ve cleverly coined 3rd Avenue. The label looks to focus on pure progressive sounds which their parent label has to an extent moved away from in favour of some more techno inspired releases. The first release on 3rd Avenue certainly makes a huge impact as it features a brand new single from Prog House favourite Blusoul. The Greek producer is on his way to big things in 2013 with forthcoming releases on DAR and 99percentrecordings. His first offering for 3rd Avenue is entitled ‘Omega’ and it comes with a top notch set of remixes from: Soulfire, Erich Von Kollar and Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic.

Blusoul’s expansive original leads the release off and as the track begins to build you can feel what an enormous presence it really has. Well textured bass stabs and a grinding set of melodic wails set the tone early with some well processed electronics garnishing the framework. Trippy, effects laden sounds dominate the second half which seems to slowly evolve as the engulfing atmospheric backdrop seemingly builds endlessly. The is no breakdown at all but rather a short drop to re-energize the track which proves to be extremely effective. Top notch stuff from Blusoul once again.

The first remix comes from UK born but Australia based producer Soulfire. Lee Ager aka Soulfire has continued to run his excellent Soulfire Downloads imprint and deliver great productions with his last coming in November of 2012. Lee’s first production of 2013 really delivers as he’s crafted a great complement to Blusoul’s original here. Lee’s taken all the great electronic elements from the original and reworked them over a much more stripped, driving groove. It’s an energetic interpretation with a growing atmospheric presence through the second half which serves as a wicked climax. Great stuff from Lee.

Next up is Erich Von Kollar who many progressive house fans may know as being one of the founders and managers of Stellar Fountain records. The Hungarian producer is also a well established DJ as he’s been a resident on Proton Radio, Digitally Imported, Ensonic Radio, Innervisions Radio and Wheee FM. The last 6 months has been great for Erich with appearances on Proton, Balkan Connection and his own Stellar Fountain imprint with exceptional productions. Erich’s “Omega’ interpretation goes down as one of his grooviest creations to date and also complements the previous mixes really well. A sequence of soft melodic stabs and sections of the rough bass tones from the original form a more than dance floor worthy groove. The dreamy melodic overtones and quirky electronics that Erich has added work perfectly as well as they give the piece an ethereal almost celestial type vibe. Great work from Erich.

The package is closed out with a trio of producers who are definately ‘on’ at the moment. Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic just had their ‘Rendez Vous’ single for Movement released last week to rave reviews and the Vinayak A remix of their ‘Healing’ track was Beatport’s #2 Must Hear Progressive House record for last week. Michael, Levan and Stiven continue with dominating productions as their ‘Omega’ remix goes down as our favourite one on the package. Backed by an electric sounding bass line and waves of trippy electronics this one has a killer hypnotic energy straight away. The dark, ominous sounding undertones that MLSR have added create such an incredible mood on the record and the production flows amazing well as it weaves through new themes, ideas and a wicked breakdown to boot. Outstanding stuff from Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic. A smashing debut from 3rd Avenue which is sure to have everyone’s full attention and it’s #1 in our Hype Chart as well. Highly Recommended. Go buy it! Release Promo Hype Chart #1
