Bruce Loko is a South African artist Get Physical Music, Atjazz Record Company and he recently contributed a remix to Just Her’s label Constant Circles.

Hey Bruce, thanks for speaking to us today. How are you and what are you up to right now?

Hey guys first of all id like to thank you for this opportunity… I’m well thanks 🙂 im busy trying to fix my laptop haha

You are from South Africa and describe yourself as having a “jazzy” background, can you tell us more about how you got into music?

It was actually my uncle professionally known as Don Laka who is a south african jazz musician, songwriter and music producer. when i was still a kid i used to hang around with him in the studio.. i was just fascinated about sound and i wanted to know more and he just said i must get a piano teacher since he was very busy to teach me and that’s how i got into the music.

We’ve been listening to your remix of Just Her & Nandu’s “Forget Our Love” on UK label Constant Circles. How did you get involved with that? What was the thought process behind the remix?

I’ve been in contact with Just Her…i’ve remixed her before and that remix got traction since then I told her if she has something for me to remix she must just hit me up. the thought process uhm… I just fell in love with the vocals and at first I just wanted to create something chilled…hence the long bridge haha but also making it dancey.

You often label your style as “African Techno”. How would you describe that sound? Is there a philosophy behind the music you make & play?

As an african i feel like I have a rare rhythm and groove (you should see me dance lol) combining these some electronic sounds (techno sounds) gives you african techno haha

My future goal is to start traveling and share my music around the world 🙂 I’ve got upcoming Ep’s on Get Physical, Freerange, Chapter 24 and Stay true sounds and I’m almost done with my album for 2019
