The 87th release on Clinique Recordings sees a new collaborative project from Carpathian Paths and Kindzerskiy Sergiy.
Carpathian Paths is a trio of Ukrainian producers that began their production career just over two years ago with their ‘Trembita’ single on Clinique. It’s been a steady rise through the progressive house underground with appearances on Matteo Monero’s Never Too Late Records and also Morningglory Music. Conversely this will be Kindzerskiy’s first appearance on Clinique following a recent outing on sister imprint BQ Recordings. Carpathian Paths & Kindzerskiy’s debut single for Clinique Recordings is entitled ‘Dark Drive’ and it comes with remixes from: Ewan Rill and Monojoke.
The ‘Dark Drive’ original leads the release off with a tough, trippy dance floor inspired vibe. Powerful beats, clattering percussion and a wide array of dark stabs drive the track to the main breakdown. The dramatic interlude provides some tense moments which evolve into a great musical theme. The subtlety though is soon met with a raspy wall of granular sound which summons the crushing beats back in and drives the track to an epic conclusion.
The first remix on the release is provided by Ewan Rill who is returning to Clinique Recordings for his fourth overall appearance and second remix. One of Ewan’s career best productions was recently released as part of Balkan Connection BC Edition for Soulwerk’s ‘The Lost Paradise’. For his ‘Dark Drive’ interpretation Ewan has played nicely on the main themes from the original all while beefing up the groove somewhat. The near apocalyptic sound design is bursting with ultra sonic quality and Ewan’s keen nose for the dance floor shines through once again.
The second and final remix is provided by Monojoke who has been one of Clinique’s primary artists since the label’s inception just over two years ago. This is the Polish producer’s seventh appearance on the label and he’s delivered an excellent remix of ‘Dark Drive’. Monojoke’s vibrant production hallmarks have injected some unique life into the sinister sounding original. Backed by a uniquely choppy groove the Polish producer’s timeless sounding electronics and warm, rushy pads put a new found emotional spin on the production which closes the release out on a strong note. Excellent stuff from Clinique Recordings. Don’t miss it.
