The tenth release on Just Movement finds the label showcasing a brand new collaborative project from Daniel Gomez & Manu F.
Hailing from Mexico and Argentina respectively Daniel and Manu are already quite established as solo artists. They’ve both appeared on Abstract Space Recordings, Balkan Connection South America and Green Snake Recordings. Now for their first ever collaboration and debut single for Just Movement Daniel and Manu present ‘ Freyja’ which includes remixes from Ewan Rill, Rogier & Stage van H and Stergios.
The fusion of Daniel and Manu’s respective sounds has resulted in the deep and atmospheric ‘Freyja’. A warm, rolling groove lays down a great foundation while cross cultured synths and soulful vocal wails add very powerful vibes. The main break showcases the ethereal beauty of the lead motif while the pixie-like melodies further tantalize the senses. A subtle yet calculated progression adds anticipation as the groove drops back in while escalating atmospheres and smooth chord changes take the track higher to amazing finish. A gorgeous debut collaboration from Daniel and Manu.
The first interpretation of ‘Freyja’ is provided by Ewan Rill who is making his first appearance on Just Movement. The Russian producer has been busy thus far in 2015. The launch of his Sever Records imprint is imminent and remixes for Majestic Family, Microbios and Soundteller are already rocking the Beatport charts. You’re never quite sure what to expect from the Russian producer but it’s almost certainly going to club friendly and full of great energy. For his ‘Freyja’ interpretation Ewan has gone deep and groovy with excellent results. A low slung, grinding bass line along with a celestial top end and clubbier rendition of the lead motif all adds up to one of Ewan’s most spectacular remixes to date. Pure emotion and positive vibes coming from this one.
The second interpretation of ‘Freyja’ finds Rogier and Stage Van H returning to the label for their sixth appearance. Rogier and Stage are in a way the heart and soul of Just Movement. The duo’s warm, atmospheric take on progressive house is quite distinctive and has carved out a sound for the label to an extent. They’ve been much busier of late already chalking up releases on Abstract Space Recordings, Classound Recordings and Movement Recordings in 2015. For their ‘Freyja’ interpretation Rogier and Stage have put their own signature twist on the track with deep bass lines, ethereal vocals and long cinematic atmospheres which run like a beautiful story board throughout. The chord changes leading into the main break keep the emotional content well intact form the original and set up an even more heartfelt conclusion. Wonderful remix from Rogier and Stage.
The third and final interpretation of ‘Freyja’ is provided by Stergios who is making his fourth appearance on Just Movement. Much like Rogier and Stage Stergios is an integral part of the Just Movement roster. His laid back melodic style of progressive is always welcome and he’s just compiled the recent Technical Progress Volume 5 compilation on Movement Recordings which was outstanding. For his ‘Freyja’ interpretation Stergios has delivered a gorgeous afterhours version which captures the emotion from the original in an entirely new context. The addition of two piano themes set against a laid back groove and shimming atmospheric haze seems like the perfect way to close off the release. A beautiful version from Stergios and another top notch offering from Just Movement. Don’t miss it.
