Dave Clarke’s coming back to Liverpool! Be quick folks!!!
Out of all the DJs in the world, Dave Clarke must surely rank in the top five most important DJs ever to grace the city. As a defining voice of the British techno development of the nineties, his Red releases encapsulated the very best of the UK’s advancement of what began in Detroit. His synth driven masterpieces were relentless and loved by techno fans all over the world. Techno was a real underground thing back in the day, with few clubs in the country supporting it. One of the those clubs was the legendary “Voodoo” in Liverpool, where Clarke made many appearances.
As the turn of the century approached, Clarke became more revered and was a pivotal player in rediscovering of old school electro years (that’s electro before it became a genre in the EDM scene). It was his residency at another peerless Liverpool institution during that time period, Bugged Out!, which makes him still discussed in hushed tones in the region.
Since then he’s remained an international force that constantly flies in the face of all that dirties electronic music. An outspoken titan that has been remained a component of Merseyside club culture as well in the likes of Chibuku and Creamfields. And soon he is bringing techno to Williamson tunnels, no doubt yet to showcase a masterclass in how to destroy a dancefloor.
