Deepfunk - Silence of Waves

The latest release on Balkan Connection South America finds the label presenting new interpretations of Deepfunk’s ‘Silence of Waves’.

Deepfunk - Silence of Waves

Originally released on Proton’s Particles imprint in January of this year the mystical beauty was another standout piece in the Maltese producer’s discography. BCSA now gives it new life with two unique interpretations from label boss Nicholas Van Orton and Nicolas Rada.

Nicholas Van Orton has been having a great 2015. The Argentinean producer released what was arguably his best work ever in ‘Funktitude’. The deep and subversive beauty was named Beatport’s #1 Must Hear progressive house track for the week and also received a banner feature. We get more of the same brilliant vibes on Nicholas’ ‘Silence of Waves’ interpretation. The brooding melancholia from the original has been conveyed wonderfully and Nicholas’ trademark grooves are as strong as ever. The warped sensibility the which was so great about the original (particularly during the break) has been downplayed a touch here for a more reserved result and smoother journey. It proves to be a great alternative to the original and yet another superb addition to Nicholas’ discography.

The second and final interpretation of ‘Silence of Waves’ is provided by Nicolas Rada who is making his 24th appearance on Balkan Connection South America. The Argentinean producer has been an integral part of the BCSA roster in recent years and most recently provided an outstanding remix of Nicholas Van Orton’s ‘Even’. For his ‘Silence of Waves’ interpretation Nicolas has injected some of his own groovy magic into the production. The warm walls of bass stabs make up a powerful and driving foundation while an array of subtle but trippy effects tantalize your senses. While the NVO remix stays quite true to the original Rada takes a darker, dubbier approach and it really pays off. There is a lot of mystery and intrigue weaving it’s way around those sinister electronics and it makes for a great listen. Excellent remix from Nicolas and a top notch release for Balkan Connection South America. Don’t miss it.
