Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic’s Mistique Music returns with a brand new single from Diego Poblets this week.
This is the Argentinean producer’s second appearance on the label with the first being a remix of MLSR’s ‘Ace of Spades’ from August of 2014. Diego’s new single for Mistique is entitled ‘Tobogan’ and it comes with remixes from Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic and Alfonso Muchacho.
Diego started his career in 2009 but it wasn’t until releases on Baires Records, Sound Avenue and Stripped Digital that he really started to get recognition for his work. 2014 was Diego’s best year yet in which he added releases on Classound Recordings and Sindor Records. The Argentine’s latest ‘Tobogan’ finds him exploring more of that dark, groovy sound that the progressive underground has come to love. The tracks rumbling foundation, buzzing synths and menacing vibes are sure to be great on those dark dance floors and its massive break just ups the intensity a notch further. Awesome stuff from Diego.
The first interpretation of ‘Tobogan’ is provided by Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic who are returning to their home imprint for the 61st time. The much loved trio have gotten the year off to a great start with singles for Kunai Records and Mirabilis Records along with a remix of Napalm & d-phrag for Mistique. For their ‘Tobogan’ interpretation Michael, Levan and Stiven have stayed true to the dark, bassy undertones of the original all while adding their own unique and somewhat deeper twist. The warm, rugged foundation has been reshaped into a smoother, more fluid groove with a complement of misty rhythms and sparking pads lights up the top end wonderfully. The hypnotic nature of the piece is quite strong and that’s what most appealing here. Great work as usual from Michael, Levan and Stiven Rivic.
The second and final interpretation of ‘Tobogan’ is provided by Alfonso Muchacho who is making his second appearance on Mistique Music. The UK based producer recently had his ‘Are You Sure’ production played by Armin Van Buuren as part of the ASOT 700 Sydney warmup and had several other nice moments in 2014; most notably incredible remixes of Deep Fog and Rogier & Stage Van H. Alfonso’s productions always come perfectly dialed in for the dance floor and his ‘Tobogan’ interpretation certainly is. Backed by a more spacious and tailored groove Alfonso’s mix is likely the best club version on the release. Dynamic drum fills along with a spooky hypnotic drift and spacey designs give it a timeless progressive attitude while the warped lines which dominate the main break are sure to push the intensity a few notch higher. Awesome remix from Alfonso and a top notch release from Mistique Music.
