Donatello – Liquid (Hookah Records)

The latest release on Hot TuneiK’s Hookah Records welcomes Donatello to the label for his debut single.

The Lithuanian artist has had a great 2016 with his tight, club friendly sound getting showcased on Click Records, Manual Music and Stripped Recordings. Now making his much anticipated Hookah Records debut Donatello presents his latest studio offering entitled ‘Liquid’ alongside a remix from Hot TuneiK & Madloch.

Donatello’s crunchy club sound has been compared to that of his countrymen, Kastis Torrau and Arnas D, which of course is a great thing. It’s a blueprint that’s currently owning the Beatport Progressive House chart and with good reason. Pristine production combined with funky grooves and modern motifs make it ideal for the dance floor, and ‘Liquid’ certainly falls well in line with that. A touch growly and ethereal all at once this moody beast is sure raise a few goosebumps while always keeping club dynamics in mind. Wicked stuff from Donatello. 

The lone interpretation of ‘Liquid’ is provided by sometime studio partners Hot TuneiK and Madloch. This duo always seems to create magic when their creative minds come together and that’s certainly the case here. Backed by an irresistible groove the piece flows through a myriad of rhythmic motifs and intriguing designs. There’s a warmer yet still dark vibe to this which is quite inviting and it just grows as the production progresses. Hypnotic lines carry nicely into the main break where the storyboard advances with kaleidoscopic delight. It’s the sound of now and a powerful drop should garner a great reaction on the dance floor as well. Big remix from Hot TuneIK and Madloch which rounds out another stellar release on Hookah Records in style. Don’t miss it.
