dPen - Out In The Rain

The latest release on Luis Bondio’s Classound Recordings welcomes dPen back to the label for a new single.

dPen - Out In The Rain

The Greek producer and The Last Of Us label boss is coming off an appearance on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeats III compilation, released just last week. Previous to that his collaboration with Kosmas Epsilon ‘Winter Is Coming’ enjoyed an extended stay in the Beatport Progressive House charts and is already at #2 in the labels best selling tracks chart. Now dPen returns to Classound with a brand new single entitled ‘Out In The Rain’ alongside remixes from Antrim and Donatello.

The original begins with a low slung groove accompanied by spooky electronics and fluid rhythms. It’s an ominous mood and one which develops wonderfully as the track progresses. It’s techno inspired feel and indistinct vocal elements make for a deadly hypnotic vortex, as it reaches a peak just before a soft overlay initiates the main break. Further developing the eerie moods; alien-like designs dominate the second act before a rush of white noise and drums brings the groove back in a big way. It’s a punishing re-entry and one which should garner a big reaction of the dance floor. Another monster tune from dPen.

The first interpretation of ‘Out In The Rain’ is provided by Antrim who is fresh off an amazing remix for Santiago Teillagorry’s ‘A Gray Day’, released just last month on 3rd Avenue. The Argentinean producer and sometime studio partner of Luis Bondio has found a home on Classound as he is now making his sixth appearance on the label. For his ‘Out In The Rain’ interpretation Antrim has put a deeper, sleeker and more refined twist on the elements, resulting in a great complement to dPen’s original. After contouring the bouncy, undulating groove Antrim expertly works in a variety of smooth rhythmic elements and subtle hypnotic hooks. As a series of a long sweeps and indistinct designs convene around the framework momentum grows before initiating the main break. Here a gorgeous sequence of ethereal echoes brings the mood up several notches as the full groove returns and ultimately takes you further into the hypnotic depths of the track. Great remix from Antrim as usual.

The second and final interpretation of ‘Out In The Rain’ is provided by Donatello who is making his first appearance on Classound. Following his early releases on Stripped Recordings and Umek’s 1605 in 2009, the Lithuanian producer was announced as one of the winners in the Sasha Burn Studios remix competition. It was a huge moment in Donatello’s career which led to two releases on Last Night on Earth. More recently Donatello has found a home on Click Records and Spring Tube where his ultra polished club grooves continue to find their way into a broad range of DJ sets. His recent remix of ‘Calm’ by ‘Analog Jungs’ proved to be one of the summer’s most intriguing productions and he’s delivered more excellence for his ‘Out In The Rain’ interpretation. The Lithuanian producer certainly has a way with energetic beats and dynamic hooks. From the contoured bass stabs to tripped out vocal gates and pristinely processed electronics there is a lot to like here, but it’s the overall vibe and how perfectly everything breathes together that makes it so great. Just perfect club material from Donatello and a great way to end the release off. Another superb package from Luis Bondio and Classound Recordings that is not to be missed.
