dustin nantais, happenstance, manual music,

Dustin Nantais made his debut on Manual Music just last month when his collaboration with Paul Hazendonk appeared as one of the lead tracks on the labels Summer Movement compilation. The Canadian producer has had a very productive 2014 with a long line of underground releases on Crossfade Sounds, MNL, Particles and Deep. This week Dustin returns to Manual Music for his first EP entitled ‘Happenstance’ which includes two brand new original productions.

The title track leads the EP off with a tight, punchy and dynamic sounding framework. There are some cool and unique things happening here; the vocal stab for one and the swarm of bees style synth lead which fades in and out of the mix. Dustin’s always been quite proficient at crafting well carved grooves and this may be one of his best yet. Somehow chunky and pulsating at the same time is delivers a foundation that is not only powerful but extremely dance floor friendly. The ultimate climax comes following the main break where Dustin’s interwoven melodies and soaring strings meet for an exhilarating conclusion.

The companion piece ‘Fortold’ sees Dustin focusing on a more introspective and thought provoking construction. It’s bubbly arps and haunting melodic accents are a match made in harmonic heaven and the soft atmospheric swells add just the right amount of heartfelt emotion. Two strong tracks from Dustin which make his debut EP on Manaul Music a rousing success. Don’t miss it.
