Ellen Allien Announces New Album ‘New Life’ On BPitch

The Berlin techno pioneer Ellen Allien routes her upcoming BPitch LP through themes of structural resistance, marine ecology, and community autonomy alongside a major 2026 world tour.

Berlin techno pioneer Ellen Allien has announced her latest studio album, ‘New Life’, scheduled for release on her own BPitch imprint this July. Recorded across creative hubs in Berlin, Miami, and Ibiza over recent winters, the record channels themes of autonomy, community responsibility, and ecological action, with lead single ‘Steh Auf’ serving as the focal point of the release. The announcement arrives alongside an extensive global tour running from May through December 2026, featuring performances at Movement Detroit, Dekmantel, Fabric London, and her own We Are Not Alone events.

Rooted in the German electronic music community since its post-wall era of political protest, Allien has maintained an egalitarian approach to dance music culture. ‘New Life’ addresses the tension between grassroots community building and commercial interests, framing techno as a form of cultural resistance. The production incorporates minimal, darkwave, and hypnotic euphoric elements, using field recordings of oceans, birds, and environmental soundscapes alongside her distinct spoken-word vocals to address personal autonomy, queerness, and alternative care networks outside conventional social structures.

“Techno is a protest by existing. By dancing. By building a world inside the ruins of another one. Globally we have been creating the communities we want on dancefloors for decades, but in recent years have seen it consumed by capitalist interests.”

The sonic architecture of the album balances club-ready dynamics with atmospheric soundscapes, exploring the natural world and the impact of human activity on marine ecosystems. Moving away from standard dancefloor tropes, the record integrates organic environments directly into the electronic framework, transitioning from deep club rhythms to open-air field recordings that mimic the transition from dusk to sunrise.

As conventions across the globe fail or are destroyed, ecological disasters and wars created for profit while leaders ignore their people, we believe that another world is not only possible but urgently necessary.”
