The latest release on Aethereal finds Following Light making his label debut with ‘Freedom of Choice’.
The Ukrainian producer and Inmost Records label boss is fresh off the release of his ‘Fomalhaut’ single and also just remixed Julian Wess for Incepto Music. Aethereal now presents Following Light’s latest entitled ‘Freedom of Choice’ alongside remixes from Napalm & d-phrag, Robert R. Hardy and Jacob Singer.
The original mix leads the release off and finds Following Light crafting another rich, bassy progressive wonder. It’s heavy, rolling foundation immediately strikes a big presence but a wealth of subtle melodies and soft elements give it a nice fluid vibe. The main break introduces some alien-like vocal elements along with a raspy synth line which intensifies before the groove returns. The second half features more serene atmospheres and processed plucks which deliver some nice musicality before building to a strong finish. Wonderful work from Following Light once again.
The first interpretation of ‘Freedom of Choice’ is provided by Napalm & d-phrag who are making their second appearance on Aethereal. The much loved duo have continued to rule the underground with their energetic creations that have now found a home on John OO Fleming’s JOOF Recordings. Their ‘Freedom of Choice’ interpretation certainly doesn’t disappoint and it provides a tougher, chunkier, more club oriented revision of the original. Straight away the production sounds nice and crisp, the foundation is very well shaped and carries a big presence. The percussive elements are bright and vibrate while the strong motifs from the original play out nicely over an atmospheric break. The second half brings things up just a touch but keeps the cool refined feel of the track well intact. Great remix from Napalm & d-phrag once again.
The second interpretation of “Freedom of Choice’ is provided by Robert R. Hardy who is making his first appearance on Aethereal. The Hungarian producer has continued to amaze over the summer season with standout EPs for Stellar Fountain and Spring Tube along with a highly anticipated one forthcoming on Deersky’s Soundteller Records. Robert’s inimitable style is once again on fine form here as he’s delivered an excellent remix of ‘Freedom of Choice’. In going with an even deeper and dreamier approach Robert has provided a great complement to the previous two versions. His long dubby lines evolve wonderfully over the tracks eight minute plus duration and the airy main break does an amazing job at lifting the mood of the track a few notches higher before a strong finish. Great work from Robert once again.
The third and final interpretation of ‘Freedom of Choice’ is provided by Jacob Singer who is making his first appearance on Aethereal. The Spanish producer began his career in 2011 with a string of releases on the 7 Senses label. More recently Jacob has completed an original for BQ Recordings along with remixes for E Sound Records and Mistique Music. For his ‘Freedom of Choice’ interpretation Jacob has gone deep and groovy which has really paid off. The Spanish producer’s rich textures and contoured lines sound fabulous here and the enchanting keys drifting over the top provide a very strong motif which carries the track. It’s also the least reminiscent of the original which makes it a welcome addition to this remix heavy package. Great stuff from Jacob and a top release from Andrey Mikhailov’s Aethereal. Don’t miss it.
