ep cover for funkstate dada classound recordings including luis bondio remix

The 14th release on Luis Bondio’s Classound Recordings features the debut of an exciting up and coming artist to the label. Argentina’s FunkState has just two credits on his discography but after a quick listen to his first EP for Progrezo you can see that he is an incredibly creative producer. FunkState’s debut single for Classound Recordings is entitled ‘Dada’ and it comes with a remix from label boss Luis Bondio.

When I received this promo I admittedly had not heard of FunkState but was pleasantly surprised at how good ‘Dada’ was. The Argentinean’s unique blend of driving tech house and progressive sensibilities make for a very club friendly production model. His tough beats, razor sharp percussion and soaring pads lead the track to the main break where the atmosphere soars even higher. The brief build is not only dramatic but tension filled and once the beats return the hypnotic groove sends a rush of energy that’s sure to be magic on the dance floor. The records second half takes things a step further with rolling rhythms and clever key sequences which make for a mesmerizing conclusion that you don’t really expect from someone so early on in their production career. Amazing work from Funkstate and can’t wait to hear more from this promising talent.

The lone remix is provided by Classound Recordings owner and founder Luis Bondio who is making his seventh appearance on his home imprint. With continued support from both Nick Warren and Hernan Cattaneo Luis has solidified himself as one of Argentina’s finest producers. It’s clear that he spends countless hours in the studio perfecting his craft cause you can really hear his evolution as a producer from project to project. For his ‘Dada’ remix Luis has once again delivered a production that is not only meticulously crafted but also ideal for a wide range of dance floors. The rhythms here are incredibly infectious and the drum fills just add a wonderful roll to the groove. Luis has downplayed the atmospheric elements from the original just a touch and really focused on pushing the hypnotic groove with unique stabs and wicked vocal pads which feature in the composition’s finale. Superb stuff from both FunkState and Luis which makes for one of Classound’s best releases to date.
