Hugo Ibarra & Uvo – Fragments (Movement Recordings)

Movement Recordings returns for what is one of the most sought after releases in the 5 year history of the label. When the Greek imprint released its ‘Technical Progress Vol. 3’ collection in November of 2013 is was heralded by many as one of the best compilations of the year. One of the standout selections undoubtedly came from Hugo Ibarra and Uvo. The Mexican duo had already been enjoying much success in their solo careers and this was one of their first collaborations together which sparked what is now one of the most in demand production duos in the electronic music underground. ‘Fragments’ melded Hugo and Uvo’s enchanting sounds perfectly and the end result was a record that was both incredibly groovy and full of celestial melancholia. With such an array of interesting sounds ‘Fragments’ was a track with immense remix potential. Now for Movements 89th overall release the label is pleased to present two brand new interpretations from Sahar.Z and Lank.

The first remix on the release is provided by Sahar Z who is making his second appearance on Movement Recordings. The Israeli producer has been heavily favoured by Hernan Cattaneo and Guy J in recent years and appearances on Sudbeat, Lost & Found and Perspectives Digital have put him in the elite class of electronic music. For his ‘Fragments’ remix Sahar has taken those dreamy elements from the original and crafted a much tougher and more groove oriented tech house interpretation. With its unique and irresistibly shaped foundation along with a barrage of fresh electronics this would have to be considered one of Sahar’s most elaborate pieces to date. The heavenly elements have been incorporated wonderfully and prove to be the ultimate contrast to Sahar’s warped, elastic-like bass tones. If you’re a DJ looking for something that’s both memorable and incredibly unique then this is a track that belongs in your sets. Amazing stuff from Sahar.

The second and final remix comes from Peter Golyan aka Lank who is making his first appearance on Movement Recordings. The name Lank has been synonymous with progressive house excellence over the last five years. The Hungarian producer has been featured on some of the finest electronic music imprints such as microCastle, Perspectives Digital and Armada Music. His productions have been played and charted by the world’s top DJs including Deep Dish, John Digweed and Hernan Cattaneo. His monthly ‘Bounce Back’ podcast has been one of Proton Radio’s most popular shows over the course of its 4 year existence and a busy gig schedule continues to delight Hungarian clubbers each week. Lank’s interpretation of ‘Fragments’ closes the release out on a very strong note. The warped sensibilities and mind bending electronics make a huge statement and are immediately captivating. Lank’s bass line prowess is once again on full display with a mod heavy foundation that is full of immense shape and rebellious character. It’s one of Lank’s most creative works to date and it’s sure to be a delight for the more adventurous electronic music connoisseur and of course the most cutting edge DJs on the planet.
