The latest release on Baroque Records finds label boss Keith McDonnell aka Innate delivering his newest single entitled ‘Samcro’.
We last heard from Keith’s long standing alias in July of 2014 when ‘Tronic Music’ was released alongside Kreisel and Anton Stellz remixes. For ‘Samcro’ Baroque have enlisted the remix talents of label artist Adwer who is coming off an amazing 2014.
The Innate sound has changed a lot over the years; the quicker tempo, squelchy lines and punishing beats of the classic ‘Changes’ have been replaced with slower grooves and a much funkier sensibility. That’s certainly what we get with the ominous ‘Samcro’. It’s a mid tempo affair with a wealth of sci-fi hooks and an incredibly groovy foundation. A section of phasing snyths work wonderfully with the chunky well carved groove and make for one hell of an intelligent dance floor bomb. Definitely one of my favourite Innate tracks to date.
The lone interpretation of ‘Samcro’ is provided by Adwer who is making his fifth appearance on Baroque Records. Adam Werderits aka Adwer hails from Hungary but is now based in Colombia. He made his Baroque Records debut last year with ‘Kolibri’, a crunchy progressive tech hybrid accompanied by a massive remix from Quivver. Adam then went on to appear on Perfecto Records and Stellar Fountain to cap off a great year. For his ‘Samcro’ interpretation Adwer has stayed very true to the ominous themes from the original all while stripping things back a touch and adding in a few unique twists of his own. The stark futuristic vibe is even stronger here and a second half of wonderfully warped synths and long sinister sweeps are just some of the many highlights. Can’t go wrong with either version here and both are well built for the floor.
