Constantin Kahl, aka Confred – is the owner of the Berlin party brand INDISKRET BERLIN, which has had a big standing on the Berlin techno circuit for a while now. He has chosen now is the time to start the label arm of the brand and does so with a wonderful 10 track VA compilation featuring a host of fresh talent. We caught up with him recently to find out why he decided now was the time to start the label, the sound and vibe he is going for, and his plans for 2025…

Hey! How has 2024 been for you, what has stuck out as some of the highlights?

2024 has been great for me. Launching the Label for our Event series “INDISKRET BERLIN” is definitely the biggest highlight, as I fulfilled a personal dream. Also hosting multiple INDISKRET BERLIN Parties at the legendary Watergate was an incredible feeling. One memory definitely sticks out from these events. I was closing the Waterfloor b2b with Rabauke and while we were playing one of our last tracks with the sun already up (Energy 52 – Café Del Mar (Cosmic Boys Remix)), they started rotating the blinds, immersing the dancefloor in a silver light only to be back to red a few seconds later. That was a bucket list moment and a bit magical. Outside of our own events, the highlight was my Sisyphos debut – it was one of the nights where it just clicks between you and the crowd, it was a crazy feeling.

What made you want to start the INDISKRET BERLIN Records label?

I wanted to create a musical homebase for our crew and for all the amazing artists we have the honor to work with. It felt like a natural evolution and next step from our events. Having the label allows me to share the musical vision that we have with the world.

What’s the sound and vibe you’re going for?

I want to capture the INDISKRET sound. The concept of our events is to take you on a musical journey throughout the night and I want to bring that to the label. Thus, the musical range is a bit broader than most labels – you will find tracks from melodic house to peak-time techno.

How did you assemble this first compilation, what were you looking for from the artists?

For the first compilation it was important to me to work with artists that have played at our events (or will in future). I looked for club focused tracks that I would love to hear during our events.

Any standout tracks or favourites?

One of my personal favorites is defintely one of the last tracks that was added to the compilation: Esin – Soule. Listening to it for the first time, I immediately knew I wanted that track on the compilation. It just has a special vibe and incredible sound design.

The second stand-out track to me is the Bianka Banks remix of Rabauke’s and my track. I love how she switched up the vibe of the track completely, while keeping the energy super high.

How important is diversity in the roster? Will you look to represent a wide mix of genders and races and sexualities?

Very important. Dance music lives and breathes through diversity and I want to reflect that in the roster. Our event series is already actively trying to create diversity in the line-ups and I want to continue this with the label.

Does the label have a visual identity and is that important?

The label is very closely tied to our event series, thus we have a similar and sometimes overlapping visual identity. To me it is important that people can immediately tell, that this is an INDISKRET BERLIN project by just looking at an artwork or flyer, simply through the vibe it conveys.

How much influence does its hometown of Berlin have on the sounds?

A lot. I grew up on the sounds of this city and it shaped how I perceive and listen to electronic music.

What have you got coming up in 2025?

I already have a few EPs and a compilation planned. I can’t share a lot yet, but I am super excited about the artists that will return and that I can newly welcome on the label next year!

Will you expand into events and merchandise and so on?

The events are already ongoing, as this label was born out of them – the next one being the Label Launch Night on 6.12 in Berlin at M01. 2025 dates are already in the works and I hope I can share more on that matter soon!
