Interview with MAMöro

In this exclusive interview, we catch up with MAMöro, the Lisbon-born DJ and producer who has been making waves in the electronic music scene. Fresh off a summer of exciting performances, including a last-minute gig at Ibiza’s Blue Marlin closing party, MAMöro reflects on his journey, his love for deep musical connections, and what’s next on his horizon. From the upcoming release of his single “Whispers” to his innovative new project *Exodus*, he’s ready to take the world by storm. Let’s dive into the mind of MAMöro!

Hey MAMöro, lovely to meet you!! How has your summer been?

Hello, nice to meet you too!! This year it was a really long summer. I met some new and amazing people, I got some special gigs, started working on a new project that will premier now November the 2nd, and I just came back from Ibiza where I got a last minute performance at Blue Marlin closing party! It was a good summer!

You’re based in Lisbon, is that correct? How long have you been there, and what is the scene like there currently?

Yes, I was born and raised in Lisbon – Portugal and since last year I have been living between Portugal and Italy, but currently I am thinking about moving permanently to Ibiza. Regarding the electronic music scene, I can’t say that it is good because basically at the moment there aren’t any nightclubs playing this genre except for one maybe … it’s mostly during the summer where you have some festivals taking place that you will find some options for electronic music.

What was the first moment that you realized being a DJ/producer was what you wanted to do as a profession? Was there one moment or event that you remember that gave you the burning desire?

At the beginning it was mostly my friend who pushed me to get back to the music industry. Then I started to get such positive and overwhelming feedback from everybody and that was the main trigger to continue. Producing was the second natural step as you can not be a successful DJ without having your own music. At this point of my career I can look at you and say yes… This is the profession that I want to have for the rest of my life!!!

You recently played Cova Santa in Ibiza, an iconic and picturesque venue on the island. How did the show go, and what were some of the highlights?

The show really couldn’t have gone better!! The bond with the crowd was on another level, there were barely any phones in the air except for my entrance, and it was 2 hours of a deep connection and high energy. You could really feel it in the air!

Highlights I would say were at the end of my performance as so many people approached me to drop some compliments, and thank me for the music journey I delivered and how they felt so good about it. At the end of the day, that’s what we work for.

How does performing live influence your creative process when producing music?

I wouldn’t say they have some type of influence on my music production, except maybe for break and drop… I like to create dramatic breaks with tension, so this way when I play it live I can create a moment of deep connection with the audience.

You have an upcoming single this month “Whispers” coming on the Belgian label Deep In Your Soul? How did that come about?

Whispers was originally supposed to be an EP, but we decided to release it as a single at the end. Nico and Bastian from Deep In Your Soul have been 2 important figures on my music releases. The level of commitment and the way they handle each release makes you feel like you are being treated as an artist and not like a number, and I think that’s important.

What do you hope listeners will feel or experience when they hear this track?

Whispers is a track with powerful and dramatic synths and a very dynamic build to hold people from the beginning till the end of that track. The whispers is just the cherry on top of the cake.

When this track hits the dance floor, I hope they understand the journey I have built when making this track and surrender their emotions in order to feel what I feel each time I press play.

How does this single compare to your previous work in terms of style and production?

Lately I have been combining tech driven bass and synths with Afro house grooves, so Whispers is another track coming from that line of productions and I have few other tracks already finished in that style. I just finished producing a track on this style that might be the best track I have made so far using this blend, but I won’t release it before next summer. This one is really special to me.

What can we expect from you in terms of future releases or collaborations?

I have been in the studio nonstop producing for about a year now, so I have a lot a music ready to release, but I want to release each of them in the exact moment. I just finished a collaboration with Nes Mburu which is absolute fire, can’t wait to release this one… and I have 2 other collaborations going on at this moment. One with Uros Bosnjak a very talented producer from Slovenia and another one with Shamira Vanilha a Brazilian/Dutch singer.

Are there any upcoming performances you’re excited about?

On the 30th of November I will be performing at the Lisbon Urban Mix Festival but the one I am most excited is the Exodus Premier that will take place also in Lisbon November the 2nd. It’s a new concept that I am creating with my partner, Bruno Mira. Exodus is supposed to be more than just a music party. It’s going to be a spectacle made of people, music and lights.
