Jelly For The Babies

The 35th release on The Purr Music finds Jelly For The Babies stepping back into the spotlight with a brand single.

Jelly For The Babies

The Serbian producer and Purr Music boss has continued delivering sublime grooves over the first half of 2015, but his most exquisite creation might just be his latest entitled ‘Her Side of The Bed’, which comes with remixes from Powel, Deephope, Pano Manara, MockBeat, Lazy Bug & Gabriel Grant.

Jelly For The Babies has been crafting various styles of deep music for years but of late he’s been focused on a more delicate musicality in his productions. This is certainly true of ‘Her Side Of The Bed’ which carries a smooth rhythmic vibe and strong motifs. Sultry bass lines and warm tones carry the track with ease to the breakdown where a spoken word storyboard and lead piano take centre stage. It’s a soulful approach and one which Jelly pulls off with ease. Excellent production and certainly one of his smoothest to date.

The first interpretation of ‘Her Side Of The Bed’ is provided by David Garcia aka Deephope who is making his first appearance on The Purr Music. The Spanish producer and Deep Clinks label boss has been pushing his unique deep house sound since his early releases on Sophisticate Recordings and Deep Site Recordings. Now nearly 150 releases later David’s sound has evolved into something even more enchanting which is showcased wonderfully on his ‘Her Side Of The Bed’ remix. The vocal reconstruction provides some great moments, particularly in the first and second acts but it’s the funkiness of the groove and airy electronics which really shine. Great remix from Deephope.

The second interpretation of ‘Her Side Of The Bed’ is provided by Lazy Bug & Gabriel Grant who are making their first appearance on The Purr Music. The Serbian duo have been frequent studio partners of late having worked on remixes for Beat Yourself Records and Ausara Recordings. For their ‘Her Side Of The Bed’ interpretation Lazy Bug and Gabriel have reworked the track into a sultry late night jam. A well carved foundation stands out instantly and again the vocals play a huge part in the tracks distinctive quality. What makes this mix unique is the bleepy electronic lead which carries the production on a trippy journey throughout. Awesome remix from Lazy Bug and Gabriel Grant.

The third interpretation of ‘Her Side Of The Bed’ is provided by Mockbeat who is also making his first appearance on The Purr Music. The UK based producer is fresh off a his ‘Should’ve Known’ single which was released courtesy of Submarine Vibes in January of this year. For his ‘Her Side Of The Bed’ interpretation Mockbeat has reshaped the groove into something a touch more indistinct than the previous versions and the musicality is incredibly strong. Soft piano stabs and radically revamped vocals are the star of the show and make for a very worthy complement to the previous three mixes.

The fourth interpretation of ‘Her Side Of The Bed’ is provided by Pano Manara who is making his first appearance on The Purr Music. The Greek producer began his career just two years ago with his ‘Beautiful Fake World’ single released courtesy of EDM Underground. A recent contribution to the Ready Mix Records WMC 2015 Sampler has been a highlight and he’s turned in a wonderful interpretation of ‘Her Side Of The Bed’ here. With an even deeper and dubbier approach Pano’s mix really stands out amidst the rest of the mixes here. The distinctive vocal elements have been used quite sparingly and really just make an appearance during the main break. It’s a welcome alternative and the unique electronic design is quite captivating. Lovely remix from Pano.

The fifth and final interpretation of ‘Her Side Of The Bed’ is provided by Powel who is making his debut on The Purr Music. The Berlin based producer last appeared with a remix of Alban Endlos’ ‘Umda’ released courtesy of Heiter Bis Wolkig in March of this year. The mid tempo electronica revision was a standout on the EP and his remix of ‘Her Side Of The Bed’ has turned out exceptionally well also. The well textured acid-like lines carve out a great groove while the expertly sliced vocals make for some great rhythmic hooks. It closes the release out very strong and also sits as a nice complement to the previous five mixes. Great release from The Purr which is full of great talent and deep vibes. Don’t miss it.
