The 212th release on Balkan Connection finds Jericho Ismael making his debut on the label. Jericho hails from Novi Sad Serbia but was born in Zagreb, Croatia. He spent a good part of his childhood living in Israel and was exposed to psychedelic trance which got him interested in electronic music in general. After DJing for three years starting in 2007 Jericho began producing in 2010 and has built up a discography of over 100 releases which includes some outstanding productions on Dbeatzion, Procon and Acunadeep. Jericho’s debut single for Balkan Connection is entitled ‘Savanna’ and it comes with remixes from: Jelly For The Babies, Cristian Poow, OLIC and Cavin Viviano.
Jericho’s original comes with a big, romping progressive groove that’s perfectly suited for main room action. Driving drums and subtle electronics combine with soft stabs and a cool vocal sample for some seriously infectious rhythms as the track continues to build. The rhythmic stabs and catchy piano hooks lead the track to the drop where the vocal samples and some soaring chord changes push the emotions even higher for what results in a big time dance floor moment. The first remix comes from the currently on fire Jelly For The Babies who is making his 18th appearance on Balkan Connection. Marijan Raskovic aka Jelly For The Babies last appeared on the label with his remix of Paul Martinez’s ‘Somebody’s Face’ which did quite well in our Hype Charts and also appeared in Beatport’s ‘Must Hear Progressive House’ records for the week of its release. For his ‘Savanna’ interpretation Jelly For The Babies has crafted a gorgeous deep rework that makes great use of the vocal elements from the original and works it’s extremely funky groove very well. Cristian Poow is up next and he provides a slightly techier version that really works the hypnotic lines nicely. The chugging groove should be huge on the dance floor and the piano driven breakdown will raise some hands no doubt. Huge stuff from Cristian.
Australian producer OLIC makes his Balkan Connection debut and provides the next remix on the package. Petar Djplic aka OLIC has delivered a monster interpretation of ‘Savanna’ that goes down as the biggest version on the package. Fuelled by razor sharp lines, epic stabs and soaring atmospheres this one is sure fire big party material. The final remix on the package comes from Cavin Viviano who is also making his debut appearance on Balkan Connection here. Cavin hails from Belgrade, Serbia and also has a very large discography of almost 100 releases which is highlighted by recent successes on Roomservice and Dbeatzion. Cavin draws inspiration from the big Swedish house sound and it’s certainly evident on his remix of ‘Savanna’ as it’s filled with gyrating bass lines, euphoric melodies and a massive drop complete with a huge build that’s sure to blow the roof off your dance floor. Cavin closes the package out with a bang and puts a cap on another superb releases from Balkan Connection. Release Promo Hype Chart Top 25
