The seventh release on Just Movement finds the label showcasing one of Argentina’s most promising new talents.
Julian Dep began his production career in 2011 but it wasn’t until his 2014 releases on Clinique Recordings, Magic Room and Soundteller Records that electronic music fans started to take notice. A more distinctive sound has been coming out of Julian’s studio and it brought him to new heights this year. His debut single for Just Movement is entitled ‘Underground Flight’ and it comes with remixes from Tash and Sean McCaff.
‘Underground Flight’ might be one of Julian’s most engaging productions to date. It’s pulsating foundation and meandering atmosphere casts a deep vibe early on. As vibrant drum elements enter the mix the energy continues to rise and eventually leads to the main break. Here a more distinct melodic theme is revealed with big spacey stabs and a smooth complement of chord changes which up the emotional content. It’s a dramatic interlude and the re-entry of the groove is sure to produce a great moment on the dance floor. The second half furthers the great vibes with heavily processed vocal gates and a trippy rain of electronics providing an amazing climax.
The first interpretation of ‘Underground Flight’ is provided by DJ Tash who is making his first appearance on Just Movement. The Greek producer and Movement Recordings owner and founder is fresh off two amazing remixes of Magnetic Brothers and Marcelo Vasami; the latter of which was played by Hernan Cattaneo. After a busy summer of events Tash has been refocused in the studio and his productions are sounding as fresh as ever. For his ‘Underground Flight’ interpretation Tash has reworked the track into a deep, sultry dance floor gem. Backed by a spacious and irresistibly groovy foundation it proves to be a great complement to the bigger original. Radically re-edited vocals provide some great hooks and the lead rhythms along with sparkling melodies add just the right amount of emotion. Brilliant work from Tash!
The second and final interpretation of ‘Underground Flight’ is provided by Sean McCaff who is making his second appearance on Just Movement. The Dutch producer has had a storied career which dates back to 1989. Appearances on Sander Kleinenberg’s Little Mountain Records and Spiritual Records have been highlights and more recently his ‘Old School / Sonic Love’ EP has been exciting electronic music fans. Sean’s cosmic techno sound has melded well with the ‘Underground Flight’ theme. The Dutch producer has lifted the atmospheric elements into angelic territory and the emotion emanating from the chord changes and piano stabs is quite alluring. A big remix from Sean which caps off another outstanding release on Just Movement. Don’t miss it.
