Nikko Z’s Dopamine Music imprint returns this week for its 8th overall release and another exciting artist debut. Julian Marazuela was born in Mardrid, Spain but has spent most of his life in the Canary Islands where he has been honing his studio skills. A unique blend of progressive and tech house in conjunction with a good run of releases on Perspectives, Balkan Connection, Stellar Fountain and Stereo Paradise have put Julian firmly on the list of electronic music’s top up and comers. His debut for Dopamine is entitled ‘Suspiros’ and it comes with two top notch remixes from: Dale Middleton and Dio S.
Julian’s original mix sets the release off with a lovely vibe. Big bass stabs combined with hypnotic bells and mesmerizing vocal pads form a heavenly groove at the outset. The track flows perfectly with additional atmospheres and cool hooks carrying the record through to the main break. It’s an enchanting interlude to say the least with glistening electronics set against a celestial sounding back drop. The character filled bass stabs soon resurface and add some wonderful tension which summons the beats to reappear. The bubbly waves continue through the second half which builds to a groovy conclusion full of emotion and harmony. Julian’s original already has a seal of approval from Hernan Cattaneo who has featured the track on his Resident Delta FM radio show.
The first remix comes from Dale Middleton who is returning to Dopamine for his second appearance. The fast rising UK producer helped launch Dopamine with a remix of the labels first release from Nikko Z. With recent outings on DAR Digital, Sound Avenue, Lowbit and Particles Dale’s loyal fan base continues to grow and his SubSounds radio show continues to be one of Proton’s most popular broadcasts. For his ‘Suspiros’ interpretation Dale has taken all the well textured sounds from the original and twisted them into a chunky hypnotic groover. Flickering electronics, warm bass tones and tantalizing chord changes are just some of the great elements that Dale’s showcased in his mix here. Fans of Guy J and Eelke Kleijn will certainly want to check this out.
The final remix on the package comes from Dio S. who is making his debut appearance on Dopamine. Dionisis Sternaras aka Dio S began his production career in 2009 with a string of releases on Movement, Baroque and Epsilon Trax. Over the course of the next 4 years Dio has built up an impressive discography with additional releases on Balkan Connection, Stellar Fountain and Lowbit. His recent ‘Una Happiness’ on Praveen Achary’s Juicebox Music was heralded by many as his best work to date and we’re inclined to agree. Dio’s ‘Suspiros’ interpretation closes the package out on a great note with a deep rolling groove, tightly clustered claps and a drop full of funky hooks which is sure to be magic on the dance floor.
