Clinique Recordings returns this week for their 94th overall release which features the debut of Lanvary to the label.
It’s been a good year for the mysterious duo which has been highlighted by singles on Stellar Fountain and Stripped Recordings. Their debut for Russia’s Clinique Recordings ‘The Day After Yesterday’ looks to be some of their finest work yet and includes a remix from the always excellent Namatjira.
‘The Day After Yesterday’ gets underway with a pulsating and very powerful foundation. A well shaped kick cuts through the meaty groove nicely and a buzzing atmosphere creates some nice anticipation as the track begins to take shape. About 2 minutes in a serene break serves to introduce an even fuller complement to the groove which should see a great dance floor reaction. Now charging forward with immense energy the atmosphere begins to rise and the peak time vibes become increasingly evident. Lanvary have built some amazing hypnotic energy and the trippy electronics and scattering sounding drums are just deadly. The track builds to a enormous climax with another dramatic break and big payoff at around seven minutes. I can’t think of a better example of a pure progressive house sound, it’s classic and really well done. Old and new school fans should absolutely love this.
The lone remix of ‘The Day After Yesterday’ is provided by Namatjira who is making his first appearance on Clinique. The Dutch producer has continued to be one of the most sought after artists in the progressive underground. His recent remix of the Subsky’s classic ‘Strawberry Fields’ was played by Nick Warren and his take on Michael A’s ‘Scatter’ was also quite nice. For his ‘The Day After Yesterday’ interpretation Namatjira has provided a deeper but equally powerful rework which sits quite nicely alongside the original. The building atmospheric theme has been well maintained but with a playful and much airier twist. The end result is another classy sounding production from Namatjira which should work quite well in a variety of sets. Very strong release from Clinique Recordings. Don’t miss it.
