The latest release on Paul Hazendonk’s MNL imprint welcomes Lefrenk back to the label for a brand new single.
The Spanish producer is making his second appearance on the Dutch imprint following his ‘Oceans’ single this past summer. It’s been 5 long months with no new material from Lefrenk so his latest ‘Essence of Life’ is hugely anticipated.
The original mix gets under way with a beefy low end and hazy atmospheric surroundings. It’s warm groove carries an enormous presence which the quirky hooks add to nicely. As the rhythmic structure of the piece builds escalating motifs and bubbly accents complement the rugged foundation perfectly. With indistinct vocal gates trailing through the production the main break commences. What starts out feeling like a long drawn out epic build pleasantly shifts to bring the groove back quickly, and once again push the quirky lead hooks into a cavernous third act finale. A very large production from Lefrenk and certainly a worthy follow up to the excellent ‘Oceans’.
The lone interpretation of ‘Essence Of Life’ is provided by Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic who are making their first appearance on the label. The Mistique Music label bosses have a had a hugely productive year. After an intensive and highly creative winter Michael, Levan and Stiven returned with new music for Sudbeat and MNL’s big brother Manual Music, with forthcoming material signed to Replug and Tulipa Records. If there was ever a trio to take all those huge atmospheric elements from Lefrenk’s original and reshape them into something equally brilliant it’s Michael, Levan and Stiven. Anchored by a tougher framework and mountainous bass swells the sheer power of it is something to really take in. After building a huge amount of momentum a brief break serves to introduce those distinctive elements which through some lovely modulation take on a more indistinct role as the groove recommences, ultimately building towards the main break with hopeful pads leading the way. The tracks centrepiece sees the bubbly cascades shine and a wall of harmonious bass deliver some emotive moments, before a wall of white noise and mild sonic decay reignite the groove for a truly huge payoff. This one’s enormous and would certainly sound right at home in a Cid Inc set. Excellent remix from Michael, Levan and Stiven and top notch release for Paul Hazendonk’s MNL imprint.
