Li-Polymer – Red Magic Light (One Of A Kind)

The second release on One Of A Kind welcomes Li-Polymer to the label for his debut single.

Li-Polymer - Red Magic Light

Launched just two weeks ago the Swedish imprint headed up by Bonaca and Jelly For The Babies holds much promise. Judging by what they’ve got planned expect to see a catalog full of outstanding releases by year’s end. They’re certainly off to a great start with the signing of one of Portugal’s finest in Li-Polymer who presents ‘Red Magic Light’.

Fresh off an excellent EP for Movement Recordings Li-Polymer continues that nice momentum here. Seemingly getting more atmospheric and organic sounding all the time ‘Red Magic Light’ is just further evidence. Beginning with a deep and dubby groove the Portuguese artist slowly surrounds the framework with delicate motifs and tribal infused percussion. A poignant tonal theme carries the first act nicely while swirling textures and dusty electronics further tantalize the senses. The main break brings a more subversive mood with the melodies giving way to the dubby, windswept foundation before a dialled down portion of groove initiates a third act of sparse yet impressive design. An interesting and spiritual listen for sure and a good one for a contemporary dance floor as well. Li-Polymer has also included an organic mix which carries a looser and more live percussive construction while the main themes remain relatively intact. The real magic lies in the break and commencement of the third act, stripped yet incredibly detailed, it’s a joy for your ears and feet. Excellent stuff from Li-Polymer and a great second release for One Of A Kind. Don’t miss it.
