Lonya – Tilll (Balkan Connection)

Lonya

Lonya’s ‘Tilll’ comes back for a full release on Balkan Connection with new remixes from Michael A., Jelly For The Babies and Kobb.

Lonya

Originally released on Alex Villanueva & Kaban’s ‘The Warm Moods’ collection in July of last year ‘Tilll’ went down as one of Lonya’s freshest productions of 2014. Perfectly dialed in for the dance floor it’s driving groove and suspenseful breakdown was a favourite of progressive DJs. Fast forward nine months and we see the very capable Michael A., Jelly For The Babies and Kobb with three brand new remixes.

The first interpretation of ‘Tilll’ is provided by Michael A. who has become a staple of the Balkan Connection artist roster. Now making his 15th appearance the Belarus based producer has really found a home on the long standing imprint. Recently charted by Guy J this looks to be Michael’s best year yet with a slew of great projects in the pipeline; one of which is a release on Luke Porter’s Temporum Music. For his ‘Tilll’ interpretation Michael has completely overhauled the track into a deep, trippy percussive beast. His dark and groovy style has become unmistakable and this is another sure fire winner for the new school progressive DJs. Great stuff from Michael.

The second interpretation of ‘Tilll’ is provided by Jelly For The Babies who is also an integral part of the Balkan Connection artist roster. The Serbian producer is now making his 41st appearance on the label and it comes during a very busy week. In addition to his remix here Jelly also has a brand new one out on System Recordings for the new Inkfish solo project Springa. Jelly’s interpretation of ‘Tilll’ would have to be one of his more progressive oriented remixes of late. The driving, energetic appeal of the original has been well conveyed here with fluid rhythms and a massive wall of rolling bass. The huge groove gives it a big presence but it’s subtle surroundings keeps it classy; and the added chord changes bring new emotional life which makes it a great alternative to the previous two remixes. Beautiful remix from Jelly For The Babies.

The third and final interpretation of ‘Tilll’ is provided by Kobb who is making his first appearance on Balkan Connection. Kobi Yitzhaki aka Kobb is a 30 year old Israeli producer who’s big break in electronic music came when he was announced as one of the finalists in Heineken’s Thirst competition. Kobb earned a slot alongside John Digweed at the final 5000 person event and since then has been focused on developing his own unique production style. Kobb’s initial productions in 2010 for Plattenbank and Asymmetric Recordings were hugely impressive and some of his more recent work for Dopamine Music and E Sound Records have been equally inspiring. His dark electronic style has become a trademark and his interpretation of ‘Tilll’ looks to be one of his best yet. Led by a brooding groove and rough synths it’s definitely one for the dark dance floors. Several cool transitions along with the addition of a moody lead theme make the mix stand out and it closes the release out on a strong note. Awesome release from Balkan Connection.
