Shane’s Jetlag Digital returns this week after a long absence for their first release of 2013. We last heard from Jetlag back in June of 2012 with Trim The Fat’s ‘Black Fly EP’. The labels newest release features Loquai returning for his eighth overall appearance and a new single entitled ‘Back Home’ which includes remixes from Shane and Tim Robert.

Konstantin Alt aka Loquai has been killing it on the production front of late with originals and remixes on OLD SQL, Stellar Fountain, Bonzai, Electronic Tree and PHW. ‘Back Home’ goes down as one of his lushest sounding productions to date. Beginning with a soft atmospheric backdrop, melodic bass tones and a tough kick a wicked vibe is formed straight away.  Wispy vocals and delicate electronics fill the air and lead the track to the first break where the full vocal is introduced thus bringing back the cool groove. The vocal then weaves it’s way in and out of the tracks atmospheric framework for some amazing emotional moments all the way through a gorgeous break where the vocal shines even further. Fabulous sounding stuff from Loquai.

The first remix comes from Jetlag label boss Shane who much like his imprint has been very quiet on the production front but not to worry we hear another album is in progress so soon there will much more original material from the German producer. Shane’s ‘Back Home’ interpretation is his first studio production since his remix of Trim The Fat’s ‘Black Fly’ from June of 2012 and it doesn’t look like the time off has hurt him at all. Shane’s taken the amazing deep elements from Loquai’s original and created a much trancier progressive cut that really delivers.  Filled with lovely hypnotic synths and smooth flowing melodies Shane has laid down the perfect backdrop for those amazing vocals to work their magic. Outstanding stuff from Shane.

The final remix on the package comes from US producer Tim Robert who we have been huge fans of since his appearance on Mistique’s VA Album 004 from way back in August of 2010. Since then Tim has appeared on Jacco@Work’s LuPS Records imprint with a single (Launch Angle) and two remixes all of which were released in 2012. Tim’s ‘Back Home’ interpretation is his first production of 2013 and he’s delivered a great complement to the package as it comes with a somewhat dubbier vibe. A full, rolling bass line with loads of groove sits at the foundation while panning electronics lock down a great hypnotic element. Tim’s  used the vocal elements sparingly as only portions of it show up during the break and heart of the record, angelic wails which trail pristinely over the framework dominate the first and last quarter of the piece; these sections in particular sound absolutely amazing. Old school progressive house fans who remember Natious are sure to love this remix from Tim as we can’t help but compare it to some of those Sasha anthems from back in the day. Certainly one of Tim’s best productions to date and it caps off a great release from Jetlag Digital.; Hopefully it won’t be another 8 months before we hear the next new one. 😉
