The latest release on Balkan Connection finds the Magnetic Brothers returning for a brand new single.
The Russian duo last appeared on the global imprint in November of 2014 with a remix of Xplore’s ‘Hidden Symmetry’. The Magnetic Brothers latest studio creation is entitled ‘Should Be Together’ and it comes with remixes from Erdi Irmak and Matias Chilano.
The release gets under way with the original mix which finds the Magnetic Brothers crafting a deep progressive cut. Warm bassy designs and some very unique robotized vocals make for an enticing beginning. Smooth rhythmic hooks then enter for some additional bounce before a dark piano-like motif leads the track into the break. The vocal storyboard continues here and the emotion rises for a wonderful third act conclusion. Strong work from the Magnetic Brothers.
The first interpretation of ‘Should Be Together’ is provided by Erdi Irmak who is making his eighth appearance on Balkan Connection. The Turkish producer is fresh off the release of his second album (courtesy Movement Recordings) and also released an electronica EP on Paul Hazendonk’s Manual Music in March. Erdi’s cross-cultural themes are always unique and he’s delivered a great interpretation of ‘Should Be Together’ here. The Turkish producer’s deep and funky groove is perfectly dialed in for the dance floor while a fuzzy reinvention of the lead motif adds some wonderful character to the journey. It sits as a great complement to the bigger original and you should be hearing it a lot over the summer months.
The second and final interpretation of ‘Should Be Together’ is provided by Matias Chilano who is making 17th appearance on Balkan Connection. The Argentinean producer has been one of his country’s most recognized progressive house artists over the last several years. Winning the first ever Sound Avenue remix contest in 2012 was a huge moment and it’s been a steady climb ever since. Hernan Cattaneo has been a huge supporter and 2015 appearances on Dopamine Music and Soundteller Records have been some of his best work ever. For his ‘Should Be Together’ interpretation Matias has put his own deep, atmospheric twist on the track which is quite amazing. The vocal elements in particular have been reinvented really well, creating a haunting vibe at a few key moments in the track. Like most of Matias’ productions it’s the smoothness of the groove and the layers of sound which are what makes it shine, there’s a lot of granular character here and it’s just a joy to listen to. Excellent work from Matias which rounds out another great release on Balkan Connection. Don’t miss it.
