Balkan Connection’s first release of 2015 welcomes Matter back to the label for his second appearance.
The Aussie producer remixed Napalm & d-phrag ‘Substance’ in May of this year for the label and also appeared on Clinique Recordings, FutureForm Music, Stellar Fountain and Suffused Music. Matter’s debut single for Balkan Connection in entitled ‘You Are Here’ and it includes remixes from Matias Chilano and Ewan Rill.
2014 was the best year of Matter’s now half decade long production career. The Aussie producer was heralded as one of the scene’s freshest talents and his driving hypnotic sound was perfect for today’s contemporary progressive landscape. With his first single of 2015 ‘You Are Here’ Matter has delivered one of his most menacing dance floor creations yet. In the age of increasingly deep music this certainly stands out. It’s energetic drive combined with fluid rhythms along with crunchy hooks is a deadly combination and one that should fair very well on a peak time dance floor. A massive tune that should satisfy all corners of the progressive house underground.
The first interpretation of ‘You Are Here’ is provided by Matias Chilano who is returning to Balkan Connection for his 14th appearance. The Argentinean producer closed out 2014 with one of his career best remixes in Bastards of Funk and Sonic Union’s ‘Nitro Cannon’ released courtesy of Golden Wings Music. For his ‘You Are Here’ interpretation Matias has taken the big rhythmic elements from the original and put his own deep, hazy twist on them. The end result is a groovy beast of a record that’s full of bubby bass tones, electric atmospheres and a cavernous breakdown which sucks you right in. Excellent interpretation from Matias.
The second and final interpretation of ‘You Are Here’ is provided by Ewan Rill who is making his 56th appearance on Balkan Connection. The Russian producer’s contributions to the global imprint have been immeasurable over the years and his take on ‘You Are Here’ might be one of his grooviest remixes to date. Backed by a fluid, elastic-like foundation which rolls with mesmerizing force it’s a mix that carries a big presence even given it’s relatively stripped down, dubby nature. A definite late night gem and a great complement to both the original and Matias’ remix. Awesome release from Balkan Connection who get 2015 off to a very strong start. Highly Recommended.
