The second release on Oscar Holgado’s Symmetric Records features the debut of Maxi Iborquiza to the label. The Argentinean producer has been one of the main contributors to Jacco@Work’s LuPS Records over the years and has also appeared on 3rd Avenue, Mistique Music and Rezongar. His debut single for Symmetric is entitled ‘Nebeneffekte’ and it comes with remixes from Yuriy From Russia and Groven.
Maxi has certainly come a long way since his initial productions on LuPS Records and ‘Nebeneffekte’ shows his groovier side quite nicely. Based around a simple but effective hypnotic framework it’s a track that carry’s some nice momentum. Techno inspired drum elements and a cool complement of rhythms drive the track through a killer middle section. It’s a minimalistic but exhilarating climax which transitions nicely into the main break and DJ friendly outro. Great work from Maxi.
The first remix is provided by Yuriy From Russia who is widely regarded as the hardest working man in electronic music. His staggering 2014 discography includes 91 entries (yes you read that correctly) which amounts to over 3 productions a week. Remarkably his creativity doesn’t seem to waver too much and he’s delivered a very cool interpretation of ‘Nebeneffekte’ here. Yuriy’s beefed up rework boasts the same infectious hypnotic qualities along with subtle vocal hooks and sonic sweeps. Definitely the biggest version on the release and sure to be dynamite at peak time.
The final interpretation on the release is provided by Groven who is fresh off a great remix of Naz ‘Failed Rehabilitation’ which came courtesy of System Recordings in May of this year. In addition to appearing on System Groven has added 3rd Avenue and Stellar Fountain Deep to his discography. His debut remix for Symmetric closes the release out with a playfully groovy vibe that complements the previous versions quite well. A great second release for Symmetric that sees the label reaching outside of the standard confines of progressive house.
