French producer Memorandom has been a huge part of the System Recordings roster over the last couple of years. He’s appeared a total of 14 times on the primary imprint and an additional six on System’s Odio subdivision. This week sees his return for a wonderful vocal composition featuring Samantha Farrell. The US songwriter has also been an integral part of System’s roster with this being her tenth appearance. Together Memorandom and Samantha have crafted ‘Nouveau Jour’ which comes with a remix from Junior Chavez.

The original version is a downtempo composition and a gorgeous one at that. The lazy beats and blissful atmospheres set the stage perfectly for Samantha’s gorgeous vocals. Rich and full of emotion Samantha really sounds incredible here and as the track progresses the emotion of the piece just continues to grow. This track really shows how you can create a lot with very little. There are very few parts here but the strength of Samantha’s vocal and the rich atmosphere are more than enough. Really excellent work here. There is also a dub provided for the less vocally inclined which is a nice addition to the release.

The lone remix is provided by another System Recordings regular Junior Chavez who is making his 12th overall appearance. The Orange County based producer released his ‘Deepest Thoughts’ single on System in December of 2013 which was outstanding and his remix here is exceptional as well. Junior’s always got a good nose for the dance floor, it’s something you can hear in all his productions and he’s transformed ‘Nouveau Jour’ into a perfect club record. The great thing about the remix is he hasn’t gone and done too much. The strength of the vocal is the key here and Junior’s let that be the star of his remix. The relatively stripped groove allows the vocals to really shine and thus you can feel the gut wrenching emotion that exudes from Samantha’s voice. Brilliant stuff from Junior and a great release for System Recordings.
