MESSIE Teams Up With Juni and sbk for HARD Recs Single ‘B2B’

MESSIE, the New Zealand club music producer joins forces with Auckland producer Juni and UK grime artist sbk for their single “B2B” on HARD Recs. Released in July 2026, the track combines Jersey Club kick patterns, UK garage syncopation, and aggressive vocal bars into a club-focused production. The release marks the debut on the Los Angeles record label Hard Records for both Aotearoa artists.

MESSIE B2B

Gisborne-born and Wellington-based producer MESSIE, real name Tessa Hills, cultivated her rhythmic precision through years of playing drums in band and skateboarding subcultures. That physical drum kit experience translates directly into her electronic sequencing, where fast-paced drum fills and complex polyrhythms form the foundation of her productions.

Her sound encompasses jungle, breaks, ghetto tech, baile funk, and Jersey club. Her trajectory accelerated in March 2024 when UK electronic artist Fred again.. selected her to open his surprise show at Coroglen Tavern in New Zealand. Impressed by her opening set, he subsequently flew her to Perth to support his 35,000-capacity event.

Since that international breakthrough, MESSIE has released tracks alongside Joy Anonymous and Redlight, while securing official remix duties for Fred again.., Charlotte Plank, and KUČKA. Her music receives regular airplay on New Zealand broadcaster George FM, alongside direct tour support slots for Sammy Virji and Interplanetary Criminal.

Her live schedule includes sets at fabric, Boiler Room, Lollapalooza, All Points East, Strawberry Fields, Two Minds, Jazz Cafe Festival, and Boomtown. Her performance style relies heavily on bootleg edits, shifting rapidly between UK garage, ghetto tech, and global club rhythms to maintain high-energy dancefloor momentum.

Jersey Club and UK Garage Fusion

Co-producer Juni represents the Auckland underground scene as a founding member and creative force behind Tāmaki Makaurau label and collective Community Service Records. Specialising in UK garage and bassline, Juni contributes refined swing, crisp rimshots, and deep sub-bass tuning to the single.

Juni’s earlier solo work and collective releases have drawn radio support from BBC Radio 1, Select UK, and RTE 2FM. On “B2B”, his engineering merges garage grooves with Jersey Club triplets, establishing a rhythmic pocket that complements the raw vocal energy of the featured vocal artist.

Featured MC sbk brings years of UK underground experience to the track. Breaking into the grime circuit at age 13, the London rapper and producer earned early co-signs from Boy Better Know, Wiley, Skepta, and JME. His ‘God Complex’ EP reached number two on the iTunes chart, leading to performances at SXSW, Paris Fashion Week, and Milan Fashion Week.
