METOODJS: Building an International Safety Cordon for Electronic Music
The electronic music scene is facing a long-overdue reckoning with sexist and sexual violence (SSV). At the heart of this movement is METOODJS, an independent international collective dedicated to providing a “safety cordon” for victims.
Originally conceived as a French national initiative, METOODJS has rapidly evolved into a global support and referral network. This expansion was a direct response to the sheer volume and international scale of testimonies received since its inception.

What is METOODJS?
METOODJS is a collective of women professionals from the electronic music industry and related fields. Many members have been active in the fight against SSV since 2020. Moving beyond theoretical approaches, the collective now focuses on concrete action and high-impact support.
The collective operates on three core pillars:
- Listening: Providing a safe, ego-free space for victims to share their experiences.
- Referral: Connecting survivors with a vetted international database of experts.
- Connection: Facilitating contact between victims (only with explicit consent) to break the cycle of isolation.
Impact and Global Reach
Since its launch, METOODJS has been contacted by nearly 100 victims across numerous countries. These reports span every corner of the industry, including:
- Clubs and Festivals
- Music Collectives and Agencies
- Record Labels
- Professional and Private environments
Currently, several legal proceedings are underway. METOODJS bridges the gap between the music scene and the justice system by partnering with specialized lawyers, psychologists, and investigative journalists.
A Call for Professionals
To ensure that every victim receives ethical and confidential support, METOODJS is actively expanding its international database of experts. They are seeking professionals in the following fields:
- Lawyers and Legal Experts
- Psychologists and SSV Specialists
- Addiction Specialists
- Investigative Journalists
“Concrete action is what creates lasting change: supporting legal processes, accompanying therapeutic journeys, documenting trauma, and helping victims break out of isolation.” — METOODJS
Privacy and Legal Framework
METOODJS prioritizes the safety of victims and the integrity of legal proceedings above all else.
- No Public Call-outs: The collective does not publish boycott lists or organize public call-outs.
- Legal Framework: All actions follow strict legal guidelines and occur only with the explicit consent of the survivors.
- Confidentiality: To protect ongoing cases, the collective communicates primarily through collective written statements rather than individual interviews.
