Michael A & Dmitry Molosh – Memories / Boomerang (Magic Room)

Michael A & Dmitry Molosh

Michael A. & Dmitry Molosh return to Magic Room for their latest two tracker entitled ‘Memories / Boomerang’.

Michael A & Dmitry Molosh

The Belarus duo have certainly found a home on Dave Shtorn’s imprint with Dmitry making his ninth appearance while Micheal returns for his third. Some of the underground’s most cutting edge label’s have also featured the sounds of Michael and Dmitry with Just Movement, Movement Recordings and Temporum Music being the most notable. The duos contemporary take on progressive house is getting more and more recognition with each successive release with Michael’s most recent ‘Indonesia’ earning chart and club support from Guy J.

The EP begins with ‘Memories’ which is a dark, chugging and deeply intriguing progressive creation. Both Michael and Dmitry have meticulous production chops and it’s very evident here once again. Well shaped bass stabs carve out a great groove while a bevy of melodic motifs and hypnotic rhythms further tantalize the senses. It’s a silky smooth ride up to the main break where a more distinct theme takes shape with some processed pianos and dreamy overlays. Soft vocal pads provide a warm rush as the groove returns and you’re whisked away further into dream land. Gorgeous work from Michael and Dmitry.

The companion piece ‘Boomerang’ finds the Belarus duo with a groovier more stripped back creation. I have to say this a refreshing sound for Michael and Dmitry; much of the textural atmospheres have been left out in favour of some unique rhythmic designs which carry the track with ease to the main break. Here we get a bit more of the atmospheric motifs that you might expect but once the beats drop back in they all get washed away in favour of intricate sonic designs, which provide a great finale. Two stunning tracks from Michael and Dmitry which make for another excellent release on Dave Shtorn’s Magic Room.
