The 354th release on Mistique Music sees the label bosses Michael, Levan and Stiven Rivic returning to the spotlight with new interpretations of ‘Healing’. The track originally appeared on the trio’s seminal LP ‘Sounds Are Deeply On Surface’. It was one of the biggest most peak time tracks on the album and here it gets new remixes from Vinayak A and Christian Duran.
The ‘Healing’ original begins with some heavily processed sounds and a wicked driving bass line. As the drum elements and arps get added into the mix the rolling energy becomes highly infectious. You can feel the momentum building as the hypnotic atmosphere wavers in the background. The tracks strips itself down a touch during the centre section and the electric stabs really shine here. A very short drop is introduced before the groove kicks in again and leads to an epic finale that’s full of swirling atmospheres, hook heavy rhythms and airy vocal pads which hover above. It was one of the standout tracks on an incredible collection that was ‘Sounds are Deeply On Surface’ and it still sounds wicked now almost two years later.
The first remix comes from Vinayak A who is making is first appearance on Mistique. The Indian producer has long been one of the most interesting producers in progressive house. His unique and varied sound stretches pretty far but there always seems to be a distinct element of electronic soul in his compositions. Vinayak’s ‘Fuckin Doctor’ mix of ‘Healing’ comes with a big atmospheric intro which more than paints an epic soundscape. Rhythmic synths, a chugging bass line and wispy vocal elements standout as the track begins to grow. Vinayak’s unique sound design really shines here with a wealth of intricate electronic elements scattered throughout the production. Void of any massive breakdown the energy stays sky high throughout with several quick drops and dynamic fills keeping your attention peaking. Solid stuff from Vinayak A.
The final remix on the package comes from Christian Duran who is returning to Mistique for his third overall appearance. The Spanish producer remixed two of Mistique ‘s biggest artists Kay-D and Loquai in his previous outings and here he’s closed the package out with a wicked remix of Michael, Levan and Stiven Rivic. Christian’s remix comes with an energetic groove that sits nicely between progressive and tech house. The energy continues to build throughout with long, dynamic sweeps and subtle electronic hooks which enhance the rocking groove perfectly. Awesome stuff from Christian and another great set of remixes for one of the standout tracks from Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic’s ‘Sounds Are Deeply On Surface’. Release Promo Hype Chart Top 25
