The latest release on Balkan Connection welcomes Napalm & d-phrag back to the label with a brand new single entitled ‘For The Love Of Machines’.
The much hyped duo have been an integral part of the Balkan Connection roster for several years with this being their 18th overall appearance. Fresh off an amazing remix for Tim Penner’s Slideways Music Napalm & d-phrag’s latest looks to be just as impressive and includes a strong selection of remixes from: Subandrio, Matter and Kissoff.
The original mix gets the release underway with a dark, heads down vibe that should suit the prog house new school quite well. There’s always a nice drive and energy about Napalm & d-phrag’s productions and ‘For The Loves of Machines’ is no different. The groove is positively electric and the complement of sounds makes for an interesting ride into the break. The addition of a strong rhythmic hook makes the break a memorable one and powers the track to an absolutely massive conclusion with razor sharp synths and sonic sweeps cutting through atmosphere.
The first interpretation of ‘For The Love Of Machines’ is provided by Subandrio who is making his first appearance on Balkan Connection. The Dubai based producer caught the attention of the entire underground when his 3 track ‘Fractured Moment’ EP was released on Cid Inc’s Replug Records earlier this year. More recently Subandrio was announced as one of the winner’s in the Cid Inc. vs. Darin Epsilon remix competition also due for release this week. For his ‘For The Love of Machines’ interpretation Subandrio has gone with a slightly more subversive version which complements the original very well. The strong machine like qualities of the original are well conveyed here but with a more spacious, atmospheric quality. A desolate breakdown proves to be the calm before the storm as those jagged synths and rough beats soon pierce the air for a massive payoff. Huge remix from Subandrio.
The second interpretation of ‘For The Love of Machines’ is provided by Matter who is making his sixth appearance on Balkan Connection. The Aussie producer has been back in the spotlight in the last month with remixes for Clinique Recordings, Mistique Music and PHW Elements. His driving hypno sound has melded well with the ‘For the Love of Machines’ themes and the end result is a deep, dubby bomb which absolutely rocks. Backed by a sultry, late night style groove and a catchy band of rhythms it immediately has a great nose for the dance floor. The slow building atmospheric quality is what sucks you in the most, it makes for a strong first act and the beats and groove sound all the more powerful once it gets washed away. Excellent remix from Matter.
The third and final interpretation of ‘For The Love of Machines’ is provided by Kissoff who is making his first appearance on Balkan Connection. The Russian producer has been one of offshoot BC2’s primary artists and has also appeared on Clinique Recordings and 3rd Avenue. For his ‘For The Love of Machines’ interpretation Kissoff has delivered an equally menacing production with all the massive synth elements and electric energy being recreated wonderfully. The second half of the mix is full of peak time vibes with firing sweeps and twisted modulation leading the charge and ultimately ending the release off with a resounding bang! Huge remix from Kissoff and a great release from Balkan Connection. Don’t miss it.
