Jungle pioneer Nia Archives returns with a hazy, Nineties electronica-infused cut from her upcoming sophomore LP.
UK producer Nia Archives releases her new single Nia Archives Vertical today in London, marking the third cut from her highly anticipated album, Emotional Junglist, signalling a deeper exploration into sub-genres and raw emotional landscapes.
Born in Bradford and raised in Leeds, the producer has fast become the defining face of the modern jungle revival. The new single offers a distinct shift in pace. Built around skittering hi-hats and a reduced BPM, the track captures the honeymoon period of romantic infatuation. Nia cites Madonna during her Ray of Light era and Bjรถrk as core influences for this direction, paying homage to Nineties electronica while maintaining her signature sound. The accompanying music video, directed by Dylan Gee, was captured on location at night in New York City. The visuals utilise strobe lights, deep blue hues, and complex superimposition to mirror the hazy, post-rave experience of new love.

Tracks like the explicit Danger and the relationship breakdown narrative Boys In Blue demonstrate her expanded emotional range. Produced alongside heavyweights James Ford, Ethan P. Flynn, and Julia Michaels, the record blends indie pop with syncopated beats, featuring vocal contributions from heavyweights Jorja Smith and Sampha.
The visual and thematic motif of the album is a shell. This represents a tough exterior that protects a precious core built through pressure, maturation, and resilience. The spiral chamber also references the female form, symbolising personal growth and self-development.
Live Activations and Cultural Legacy
The new era is already transitioning to live spaces. Following a series of intimate, sold-out headline dates across Leeds, London, and New York, she recently performed at the Forbidden Fruits Festival in Dublin. Fans can catch her live this summer at All Points East in London alongside alternative titans Jorja Smith and Tems.
Simultaneously, her commitment to the history of the genre remains absolute. Through her Up Ya Archives banner, she recently co-curated the exhibition activation The Music Is Black: A British Story at V&A East alongside Rendezvous Projects. The educational programme examined the evolution of jungle, celebrating the East London communities, pirate radio networks, independent record shops, and DIY frameworks that built the movement.
